Oh, McVey, you're a funny man. You like teasing the cat, don't you? Be that as it may, I would pick Schmeling and Neusel for the top 2 spots. After that they blur a bit. I'm glad to see Schmidtke and Dagge named also to the expanding list and don't forget Peter Mueller and the other Rocchigiani brother, Ralf (assuming you were talking about Graciano in your initial list). I would have sandwiched Erich Seelig into the top 5, but technically speaking, he was Polish-born.
1) Schmeling 2) Maske 3) Ottke 4) Rocchigiani 5) Sturm Ottke is a pain to rank, based on the numerous asterisks that people often attribute to his wins. I don't think he was as good as his numbers would suggest, but equally he wasn't a complete fraud either. He beat and was competitive with numerous good fighters, and regardless of aesthetics he deserves a high ranking. Sturm narrowly edges Dagge for me. Even though Dagge won a title in a less fragmented era, I don't think he was that good and the win and draw against Griffith/Hope flatters him.
