It’s interesting, those who picked Arguello…..he’s generally thought of as the best 130-pounder ever, but not much mention of any fights for him at that weight.

I don’t necessarily disagree with their choices, mind you, just found it interesting.

    Ray Leonard
    #1 Duràn in Montreal
If there's a such thing as winning by losing this is the fight, because it made him a better fighter for my number 2 favorite of his.
    # 2 Thomas Hearns at welterweight. The ultimate show down of two PRIME ATG's, this fight pushed Leonard's career into legendary, and showed he could do everything in a boxing ring.
    #3 Wilfredo Benitez
Another PRIME vs PRIME fight between two ATG'S. Possibly the greatest fight in history for purists. 15rds of technical brilliance between the two. The difference was Leonard's aggression and power.
    4 Larry Bonds.
Bonds was a very good and tricky south paw, hard to land cleanly on the chin.
What does Leonard do? Put on a body punching clinic, demonstrated his complete mastery of all aspects of boxing.
    #5 Marvin Hagler
The ultimate challenge against the greatest middleweight champ in history.
Though both were past prime ( Though I believe Leonard beats Hagler prime vs prime, he had the smarts and physicality to beat Hagler)
Leonard wins a fight most thought he may get embarrassed or worse seriously hurt in. Most feared for his safety.
In comparison How many of Mayweather's fight there was actual fear for his safety? Or actual fear he could lose.
Not one. It speaks volumes about his competition.

He was such a complete fighting machine at 130, like god-tier to me. I wish Bobby Chacon hadn’t gotten cut so we could have seen that one play out a bit more. I think Alexis had him figured out but you could never count out the Schoolboy.

I believe Chacon admitted later to being gassed and eventually realized he couldn’t deal with Arguello’s pressure.
