well the title of the thread said "no honorable mentions", archie moore would have been my first honorable mention along with mike tyson

btw, my fathers # 1 favorite fighter of all time is floyd patterson. the guy really makes a strong case why he deserves to be ranked way up there.

Yeah T, he had so much physical grace, but that tension in his stance said he was always ready to unload. His right hand was a thing of beauty. I picked Ali over Clay, and I know alotta people feel otherwise, but to my estimation he was more impressive when he wasn't so athletically dominant, and had to find other ways to win.

    Nigel Benn
    Mike Tyson
    Lennox Lewis
    Hamed
    Ricky Hatton

Its a bit like whats your favorite song though, could change at any time. Benn has always been my favorite though.

Yeah, i would think in terms of pure favouritism (meaning who you would take to your heart), Ali would get the vote over Clay.

On the Sugar topic, i think he just looked plain eviil at times, dont mean that in a bad way, just that a lotta people say that great fighters must have the mean streak, he had it in abundance imo. He never came across like that all the time i must say, but that's because he had the ability to box and utilised it, he could shut a guy out with the jab when past his prime.

I'm the top man for the avatars mate. My Hagler 'war' one wearing the cap is the best one on ESB. My Whitaker ones shall never be surpassed either.

    Salvador Sanchez - Brilliant elegance
Bobby Chacon - Heart on his sleeve, in and out of the ring
    Alexis Arguello - Artisan-killer
Matthew Saad Muhammad - "Hit me, PLEASE!"
    Marvin Hagler - Hard knocks

He was there to do business. Mean streak? Hell yes, they all have it. They must have the killer instinct in the ring. And I wonder, if it's a challenge for all of them to keep that instinct where it belongs, in the ring.

    I have a hunch it's so.

I'm not sure about the Staffy he's got on just now. That sure aint a good one. He'll need to change that one soon if he's going to keep up with me. My Hopkins one with the weights around his neck and head brace is also a stand out one. :good

McGrain had a Liston one which IMO was his best. Smartly dressed with an umbrella and a green tint through it.
