    Fitz is NOT a MW...
nor a HW either for that matter, to his 'merit'

he should be thought of, rated as and applauded for an excellent L-HW.

I see your point, but whilst competing in the lhvy division he didn't exactly set it on fire.

I'll make a stab at it, if only to provoke some negative comments.
    In no order.
    Ketchel
    Jackson
    Lausse
    McClellan
    Benn
    Steele
    Hart
    Robinson
    Hostak
    Burley*
*It was going to be Graziano, but Burley ko'd lots of bigger guys too.
ps I'm putting Langford at lhvy. Golovkin just misses the cut,not enough scalps.

Good list, but I might add Roy Jones. Whether or not he punched as hard as all of these men is up for debate. What is not really up for debate is that his ability to stop his opponents (through his combination of power and speed) was every bit if not better than most on that list.

I'm actually going for raw power rather than the expertise to deliver it,if that makes sense. That's why I didnt name it "The Best Punchers".

KOing bigger guys doesn't make you a big puncher. Ali punched out a bigger Foreman but was never remembered as a power puncher. As much as I like Burley, there isn't enough footage of him to really judge how big a puncher he was. Power at the end of the day is how much destruction you can pack in one fist. From what we can read Greb should top this list, but again we've got no footage of him and writers are unreliable as **** sometimes. Damn shame. No. 1 best puncher at middleweight, I'm gonna go with Ezzard Charles, judging by the footage we have, at middleweight, he must have been a solid hitter just look at his kill list, Burley, Moore etc.

What? I don't think there's a bigger Ezz fan than me on the forum but that's a definite stretch

Then we disagree, koing men one or two divisions above you as Burley did reasonably often indicates you possess serious power.imo Why would Greb top this list which top guys of his era did he ko?In fact which ranked fighters did he ko?
Charles beat Burley twice ,in their 1st fight Burley was conceding 9 lbs to him in their 2nd 6.5lbs. Burley was 155lbs for the 1st fight and 151lbs for the 2nd ,so a junior middle in both.
Charles and Moore never fought at light heavyweight ,their three meeting were at light heavy for which fights Charles scaled.
    1st171lbs
    2,173.75lbs
    3.173.75lbs
ps Foreman had just 3.5lbs on Ali.

Fine, your right. Burley doesn't look like a hard puncher though, but he's precise.

Fair point, pretty fanboyish of me I'll admit. I guess it depends on what you mean by a big puncher. Does it mean how heavy handed someone is or how good a puncher they are? i.e. how accurate they are, their timing etc. If we're talking about hardest hitting, then in hindsight it's probably going to include Julian Jackson or Gerald McCellan.

Burley gave Archie Moore 6lbs and floored him 4 times to take a decision.
He ko'd Jay D Turner 219.75lbs when he weighed 151lbs
He gave10.75lbs to Shorty Hogue and stopped him in10rds
He conceded 6.5lbs to Jack Chase and floored him for a 9 count.
He knocked heavyweight Elmer Ray out in the gym with the big gloves on .
