There is no way to knock Marciano's chin as he never lost a fight, let alone by KO ... however it is not revisionist to honest review his opposition ... there was a thread here not long ago and it was mostly agreed that among the great heavyweights Rocky fought the lightest punchers ...

He took some flush right hands in round one very well. They did not hurt or deter him. Bowe who fought many said Hide was the best puncher he faced.

Funny how? Did you see the flims. Its clear Sanders who landed a heck of a shot in round one pushed Vitali down in a clinch. It is also clear Bonnevena floored Chavalo with pucnhes...but the ref blew it.

    I'll stand on the flims.

i disagree and actually think the opposite but films aren't always clear. the thread over gans/mcgovern proved that. the evidence isn't concrete for either "knockdown" and they're open to some interpretation

  5. liston was koed in the first round by ali who was never a big hitter do you seriously say he has a better chin then holyfield? and lewis has a better chin then liston he was koed by 2 massive punchers and not a chance would ali get him in the first round listons one of the most overrated rated boxers of all time

it was probably a dive, negating the impact of the "knockout" on his legacy. again, it's conjecture but commonly accepted conjecture

First of all great call on McCall , an obvious choice ... Onmy personal list I'd also change Liston for Frazier ...

The only one Frazier fought bounced him around the ring like a ragdoll  Unless you want to use featherfisted Joe Bugner as evidence Frazier took a punch from a powerful big punching heavyweight

Good. Liston had a better chin than Frazier. So did Marciano.

I don't know where it came about :patsch

Maybe if he fought Nino Valdes or Bob Baker, people wouldn't be giving him as much ****?

ive criticized rocky's skills and competition in the past but his chin?? flash knockdowns against the greatest 175 pound hitter of all time and one of the best heavyweight puncher/trapsters doesn't make him vulnerable

The fact that Frazier and Liston's chins are being argued with only the most paltry mention to Chuvalo and Cobb is really surprising and a little disgusting.

Nah...if you're white, undefeated, short and clumsy looking (oh so deceptively so), you're gonna get no respect these days. The **** that I read here...serious posts by some maintaining that Roy Jones would beat Rocky..and "what lightheavyweight would beat Marciano?"..that's another "favorite" of mine. Marciano, no matter who he would have fought and beaten would get no respect in some quarters today. Some here have a top ten list of great heavyweight chins with no mention of Marciano.
