Roberto Duran @ 135 Pernell Whitaker @ 135 Sugar Ray Robinson @ 147 Sugar Ray Leonard @ 147 Roy Jones Jr @ 168 Robinson is not on film much at 147, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. People have said he was much better at 147 than he was at 160. Tyson comes to mind too @ HW as does Holyfield @ 190 as KG said. Hearns and Monzon have good cases and I'm missing a few.
Literally it would be among Heavyweights(Ali, Lewis, Holmes, Tyson, etc). For their weight class it would be someone like Lopez at 105, Gomez at 122, or Jones at 168 due to lack of competition and their tremendous skills to boot. P4P is a lot harder to decipher though. Those in contention are the following, as they were in the specific weight class: Jones Jr. at 168 Greb at 160(despite lack of footage) Robinson at 147(despite less footage) Whitaker at 135 Duran at 135 Armstrong at 135 Pep at 126 Pryor at 140 Napoles at 135-140(despite less footage) Burley at 147 Loi at 140(despite lack of footage) Mayweather at 130 Hearns at 154
This is a great post all round Pea. I object to the inclusion of Napoles as an aside. But great, great post. Seriously. I would like to mention Langford at 160. He'd be close to invincible at this weight I feel. Breaking backs.
Thanks bro. I think Napoles looks fantastic at 147, one of the very best, and the fact that he was better at lower weights puts him on the Robinson level of looking great on film, with his greatest not even seen.
My 5: 1) RJJ @168 2) Tyson 3) Duran @135 4) Whitaker @135 5) Hagler @160 And in the future Gamboa at 126 or 130!!!!!!!!
Vitali klitschko is up there. Very durable (never been knocked down in ams or pros) aggresive and great power.
