Prime Oscar probably would have beaten FMJ, or at least the way Floyd fought that night. Aggressive Floyd...not so sure. Healthy Sergio would have beaten Cotto. Any version of Tyson would have lost to Tokyo Douglas. Oscar took a dive vs Hopkins. FMJ's chin more than his defense prevented him from ever (really) being knocked down. He got cracked more times than most ppl remember. The fact that Lennox Lewis beat every man he ever faced should be a much bigger deal. Women's boxing sucks, and always has. I may support a girl I personally know, but other than that... The mod who banned me just because I asked why curse words are filtered needs a hug. Wilder would take Joe Louis out within the first few rounds. Hagler beat Leonard but deserved to lose. Same goes for De La Hoya vs Trinidad. Ali was not the saint people make him out to be. Frazier had every right to mock his illness. I'm not saying it was right for him to do so, but he definitely had his understandable reasons. If I had to pick ONE and only ONE hypothetical fight, I'd go with lightweight FMJ vs Lomachenko. But that's just at this particular moment. It could change every day.
I think many golden eras of weight classes are not so much better talent-wise than bad eras, I think they are viewed better because there were more closely matched elite fighters who matched up well against each other and were strong where their opponents were not, and where their styles complemented and contrasted each other very well making for exciting fights and a lively division dynamic. I think truly elite fighters and top 10 guys are much more closely matched than people give credit, ts just that they dont fight the other top giys or the fights are not exciting etc etc.
Floyd was a great fighter but a huge fraud as well pac used steroids Both ali and tyson are overrated Calzaghe is top 10 ATG kovalev was robbed against ward in the 1st fight, 2nd fight he was low blow TKO'd but was going to lose anyways head to head fury beats both ali and lennox canelo is 1-1 against GGG lomachenko is overrated and underrated at the same time Inoue got exposed a little in his fight with washed up donaire beterviev might be the best LHW of all time but will never be able to prove it margarito never cheated, shane mosley cheat he used steroids jeff horn beat manny up fair and square
Tyson Fury needs a win over someone highly ranked other than Wilder, who is also in their prime years, before he can be spoken of as a historically great HW. Ivan Dychko needs to fight sooner rather than later against someone of note ... so does Charr. They should fight each other. When comparing Usyk and Holyfield ... the equation is distorted by H's alleged steroid use.
We should clone Naseem Hamed and have a fresh copy of him ready to fight for the generations to come - I want to see Hamed fight every fighters close to his weight class.
TOP 10 10. Majority of Boxing fans are like politicians, will often contradict themselves just to win an argument. 9. Fans who once boxed, only play the "Have U ever stepped in the Ring" card because they lack in depth knowledge in their own beloved sport.- especially if they get whooped by a box-rec champ. 8. Since Pacquaio never held more than 1 belt simultaneously, he was never ever the best in his division. Any division. Ever. 7. Paul Williams at Welter beats Floyd by an ungodly punchstat count allowing him to jab from across the ring. I can envision Williams lands 202 out of 1200 to Floyd's 170 out of 400. 6. Paul William at Welter gets laid to sleep by Pacquiao who aint afraid to get inside like Quintana did. 5. Paul Williams could beat the majority of fighters that gave Pac the most trouble. 4. Had Cotto never faced Margarito, he would be talked about as an ATG today.- that loss changed his path. 3 Being able to recite fights, statistics doesn't make one a dedicated fan, it just means they have a greater capacity to memorize. 2. With D'amato & Rooney still on Team Tyson- he beats Douglas, Holyfield and even Lennox- who at that time didn't have Manny Steward. With him, I'd go Lennox without Steward? Tyson! 1. With D'amato & Rooney- Tyson either doesn't go to that pageant or Cu's does his magic & makes that infamous hotel night disappear like many of Tyson's bad ways--as a result He also beats Foreman, Tua. Not sure about the small window of success for Bowe. That IMO would've been his toughest fight and may have given him his 1st loss.
@mrtony80 are you the guy who posted on here quite a lot before the site changed? I seem to remember you posting a clips of you training? What happened career wise? Did you have many amateur bouts?
- Buster Douglas was the most technically sound heavyweight over 6'3'' of the last 35 years - Tim Witherspoon had one of the most powerful right hands in the history of boxing - Riddick Bowe's resume is better than advertised - Roberto Duran's and Manny Pacquio's careers are similar in many ways - Winky Wright would easily beat any version of Felix Trinidad - Larry Holmes would beat George Foreman at any point of their careers from 1977 to 1999 (when their fight was planned to take place) - Sultan Ibragimov would comfortably outbox Ruslan Chagaev had they met in unification fight in October 2007, as was planned - Ray Mercer would stop Mike Tyson in the late rounds had they met in January 2002, as was planned - Chris Byrd would give a hell to the absolutely best version of Holyfield and probably would still beat him - Wladimir Klitschko's chin was much better than advertised - BUT Corrie Sanders would have knocked him out again in the rematch, had it happened in the 2003 - Steward-tarined version of Lennox Lewis would demolish pre-Steward version in two rounds - Vitali Klitschko wasn't dominating in the fight against Chris Byrd, he was winning it by the slightest margin (5-4) at the time of stoppage - Victoriano Sosa gave Floyd Mayweather MUCH tougher fight than Canelo Alvarez
Salvador Sanchez is an ATG of the highest level, but overrated as ****. Saldívar is better. Prime Roberto Durán beats anyone at 160 and below today. Usyk > Holyfield, at CW. Same day weigh-ins and 15 rounds should come back. Lower weights > Heavyweight Max Baer is the hardest hitter ever. Pac > Mayweather, P4P ^^^neither are top 20. Stanley Ketchel isn't a top 10 MW. José Napoles would kick **** outta anyone today, between 135 and 154. GGG is ridiculously overrated. Canelo is too. Ward >>>> both. I could keep going, but I think I've exposed myself enough.
Dave Allen conspired with Dorian Darch who took a dive in the third in their recent fight Dave Allen May have conspired with Lucas Browne who went down like a sack of spuds in the third from a seemingly innocuous body shot Dave Allen spends too much time hanging around with young lads who look like twinks
