Top 5 HW. Underrated skills and some of the best heart and toughness in the division. Will beat Parker tomorrow.
If you want to have a brawl then Whytes your man but he gets outboxed by anyone with even average boxing ability. Slightly better than gatekeeper due to his gameness and chin.
He isn't complete ****, he's got a decent jab, is rangier than he looks, hits hard enough to make a difference, is strong, tough, has heart. He's also slow, has sub par technique, doesn't take conditioning seriously enough and has a poor defence. I described him as slightly less good than the best version of chisora but more consistent. I do think he's a genuine top 7-10 heavyweight but that's his ceiling #s 1-6 are a level above him. I put parker as a top 3-5 guy, he will win tomorrow
I don't think he's as bad as some think, but then not as good as some think either. This era isn't particularly deep in regards to talent and so he's been able to rise to a prominent position as a contender by not doing much. What's his best win? A shot Lucas Browne or a faded Dereck Chisora? But he's big, puts his shots together nicely, with variety, he isn't predictable, has a solid jab, counters well and since the loss to AJ improved his stamina and work rate and has a solid punch. He's improved a lot since the AJ fight but his defence is still questionable, he still backs up in straight lines, his head movement is minimal, but his guard his pretty solid. I still think a fighter like Chisora who would back him up and get him to the ropes would give him nightmares but if you box with him, let him play the role of aggressor and you play into his hands.
Ruiz has the style to give Whyte problems, backing him up and exposing his poor defence and movement. But Ruiz is gate keeper level. He would get out worked by Whyte and while he is a solid puncher his power fades as the fight progresses. Unless Ruiz can chin him early, he'll lose a competitive decision.
European level at best. Only "top 10" due to the weak state of the division after the top 5 fighters.
I don’t think he’s to be taken lightly by anybody out there. Early on he used to look like what he was, a boxer who came out of kick boxing and martial arts, but in fairness he’s gradually improved along the way. He has decent skills and has developed a big left hook, but I think his biggest asset is his attitude. He certainly believes he can beat anyone out there, although I suspect he’ll be outboxed tonight.
to put that into context though, he sat out a 2 year drug ban between those two fights, which obviously didnt help him in terms of conditioning/desire or whatever. hes another frustrating HW like so many others, hes a plodder who cant be bothered to improve. lets see what he does against parker, because bashing lucas browne was sadly totally meaningless.
Yep that’s about the sum of it and how anyone could say he has no chance of winning a title is beyond me as it only takes one good punch at HW.
Hes decent and a sollid contender in this era of heavyweight Boxing, he has seemed to of taken his career a little more serious of late and he has looked better for it although ive heard a few rumours hes gone back to slacking off a little in the training camp for this one, i hope that they are just rumours. He isnt guna dazzle you with his skills, he isnt going to blind you with speed but until you gain control of him or knock him out he is coming for you with bad intentions and fairly heavy hands.
Solid but unspectacular. Good "B" level guy. Worthy addition to the bottom end of the top ten. Above fringe contender, but not a champion either. Better than mediocre, but less than overtly impressive.
