Completely legit. "Protect yourself at ALL times" is the most basic rule of boxing. Ortiz violated it, and he paid the price. End of story.

 

Mayweather should of never had the opportunity to hit him.

As far as sportsmanship goes, sportsmanship is overrated. Sportsmanship is an unspoken courtesy that, optimally, is mutually observed between fighters. Ortiz, not Mayweather, threw sportsmanship out the window. Floyd, to his credit, retaliated WITHIN THE RULES of the sport. Imagine how some other fighters would have reacted. Floyd - like he did against Judah - kept a cool head and waited for fight time.

 

All this might be true, and yet, Floyd won the fight via suckerpunch. And for some reason, people think winning this way is a good thing. Jesus christs... :-(

My honest opinion about the fight is that Mayweather pretty much had Ortiz figured out and would have most likely have won a UD or late TKO. Ortiz was a ***** for throwing that headbutt and I think Floyd was within his right to retaliate. But to have the fight end with that cheap shot was a shame. Had Floyd stopped with that left hook, it would have been enough payback especially since they already took a point away from Ortiz. But as it is, Floyd will be seen as a ***** for that move and I totally understand why.
