Heavyweight fights are better than any other division, by far. Jones Jr isn't unbeatable. Tyson beats Holyfield in his prime. Mayweather and Pac are both top 25 ATG level fighters. And the biggy. The one I like to keep secret on these boards. Deep down I think Arguello beats Mayweather.
You just replied to them. Tyson is not near as durable as people says he is, and he is not near as accurate of a puncher as people say.
Oh, sorry—I misinterpreted your original post. I was thinking more of your other posts about Tyson not hitting as hard as Duran, pound for pound, and Tyson not having a chance of beating prime Larry Holmes (while Marciano does).
Often, but not always. What about the posts containing lists of fights? Or those ranking fighters in terms of “greatness”?
That’s fair. For me it depends on the context and how original the list of names is. Do you feel the same way about the “rank the greatest boxers” and “best fights” lists too? Just curious, because I generally feel that way about them.
Lewis would have beaten prime Tyson Andre Dirrell took a dive against Arthur Abraham GGG beat Canelo in both fights
There is always the possibility of bringing up a fresh thought on an old topic, but I get what you're saying. I try to think of deeper thread ideas to use, but often succumb to the fun-and-easy lists of fights and fighters and fantasy matches. I don't really like ranking things though, they're too tough to decide for me.
I don't like time-machine fantasy fight posts, most of the time. I find myself wanting to post something snarky, i.e. "Sonny Liston vs. Riddick Bowe? I don't think it's fair to have a grown man like Sonny beating up on a 1 to 3 year old child. Oh, prime Bowe? Well I don't think it's much of a contest for Bowe to take on a dead man, either." But they are popular and people like them, so who am I to throw a wrench into their fun?
Ha ha. I should have said, "For example, if someone posts a fantasy fight thread titled, 'Sonny Liston vs. Riddick Bowe, who wins?' I want to add a smart-arsed post saying, I don't think it's fair..." So time-machine prime vs. prime fantasy fight threads are not threads that I like very much, which, judging by the number of fantasy fight posts here, are popular, and me not liking them is an unpopular boxing opinion. That's what I meant to say. I think.
My maybe unpopular opinion is that people who don’t like certain types of threads and posts should create the kind of threads and posts that they like and maybe there would be more of those.
