Deontay Wilder will definitely get a place in the HOF due to 10 consecutive title defenses. Muhammad Ali held 10 consecutive titles during his second reign. More consecutive title defenses than Deontay Wilder had: - Tommy Burns 11 - Wladimir Klitschko 18 - Larry Holmes 20 - Joe Louis 25 All others have had fewer consecutive title defenses in the last 150 years. And that is why Deontay Wilder will become a member of HOF. I think that from the generation of heavyweights after Wladimir Klitschko, members of HOF will also become: Tuson Fury, Anthony Joshua, and Oleksandr Usyk.
He fought 2 top 20 contenders just terrible legends like Muhammad Ali Joe Louis, Holyfield, Mike Tyson fought all champions and top contenders they all have 20 wins or more over top 10 contenders and champions let alone top 20
You have no top twenty rankings to even reference. He defended against three top 5s (Ortiz, Fury, and Ortiz) and won the belt against a top 5.
Ali was in outstanding condition in Manila for his bout with Frazier in 1975. It's a misconception many have because Ali weighed in at 224lbs. Frazier weight 215lbs. That's a clue that those weights were taken days before the fight took place. The eye test as well. Together they threw more punches than most lightweights in stifling heat. Ali set a furious pace in Manila. Faster than the other two bouts without question. Just to drive it home in the center of the ring after he had collapsed to the canvas Ali said that "if I wasn't in such fantastic condition I know I would have lost, too much pressure".
Tyson Fury would have two chances to beat Uysk, slim and none. Fury would be battered into submission. A wipe out.
Been here bout 10 years. I can say unequivocally that the Monzon Mafia is a thing. If you think about picking against him in a mythical match just be prepared. His loyalists will come at you like Spider Monkies. They go ape shi!. Doesn't matter if its a fellow Hall Of Famer like a Roy Jones or Thomas Hearns. It might as well be Pat Lawlor to his most rapid fans. Lock your front door.
You need to keep taking your meds, you are hallucinating, you are seeing things that are not there. Blah Blah Blah. Lol.
Tyson Fury is a top 10 H2H Heavyweight Cleveland Williams is a lot better than given credit for. Shavers had an excellent chin, but poor stamina.
I liked Larry Merchant's commentary .Al Bernstein's too. Max Kellerman is way overated, as is Chris Mannix. I don't care for Andre Ward's either. Jimmy Young deserved to lose against Ali,he displayed none of the qualities of a man really wanting the title,a perpetual nearly man. James J Corbett's winning resume is **** poor. H2HSonny Liston is a top 6 heavyweight. Lennox Lewis ,next to Ali is the most dauntingly problematical opponent for other heavyweight champs to overcome. Riddick Bowe could have been an ATG,and he beats both Klits. Marciano does not make my top 10 all time heavyweight list.He is number 11 just in front of Frazier,no 12. Bert Sugar was an entertaining bull shitter but never a serious historian. Far too many fighters are labelled "great",the word has been criminally devalued by its reckless overuse. The IBHOF means JACK **** it's a popularity contest nothing more. Jack Dempsey would have smoked Harry Wills. Harry Wills is rather overated today. Prime for prime Jack Johnson, beats Langford,Jeannette, and Mcvey. Jim Jeffries was scared of losing his title to Jack Johnson. Floyd Mayweather cherry picked and as a result is not as great a fighter as Manny Pac. Floyd ,prime for prime beats Manny. Ray Leonard has begun to be underrated because many dislike his personality, at his best he was the number 2 all time 147 pounder. Holmes beats Foreman and takes one of a trilogy against Ali. Bernard Hopkins bored the **** out of me and was overated. Carlos Monzon's style was not fan friendly, but he was a very great fighter. Carmen Basilio was a great warrior, but a little overated at147lbs. Josh Taylor is not a great fighter. Randy Turpin's resume does not add up to greatness. The best version of Lamotta beats the best versions of Zale and Cerdan. Graziano was very overated and fortunate to catch a sliding Zale when he did. Bob Foster is the hardest single punch light heavyweight champ of all time and comfortably fits in the top 4 of that division. Ike Williams beats Duran! Carpentier is very overated. Maxie Rosenbloom is criminally underated today ,just take a look at who he beat! Joe Louis was convinced he BEAT Walcott in their 1st fight ,and he said so in his autobiography and on national TV. Rocky Marciano was a great fighter ,and champion ,and a good man,but some of his more "questionable activities," have been airbrushed out.or denied by his more rabid fan base. Owen Moran is one of the UK's greatest fighters. Because of his earlier statements Billy Joe Saunders deserved all the criticism for quitting against Canelo. Tyson Fury has a very shallow resume, but will be a nightmare for the other heavies, along with his mobility and speed [for his size,] he has very big balls. Frank Sanchez is the most promising of the contenders.
