    Hi Ioakeim.
I am a huge admirer of you, your post and breakdowns of fights and fighters are some of the best I have read during my years on the forum, no kid, so it saddens me when I read that " potentially" a magnificent and truly great LW like Duran could be ranked so high due to his prestige, as opposed to his accomplishments, if you are right then it's truly a dark day in my life, a fighter I have up there with the best of all time, is in your eyes, not worthy of such accolades, dear oh dear.
that said, stay safe buddy, chat soon.

No need to worry. There's a reason I said potentially. He is absolutely one of the great Lightweights in terms of resume. Buchanan and De Jesus are still some of the greatest wins in the division, and he has solid enough depth with wins over fighters of the era. There's just this notion going around that only Gans and Leonard could reasonably be ranked higher than him at the poundage, and given Lightweight's history as potentially the deepest division ever, with guys like Canzoneri, McFarland, Ortiz and Williams in its ranks, there's an argument to be made that they should perhaps be considered his equals or superiors in terms of resume there. Duran just so happens to be the name at LW, so he just gets extra points for most people, and that is in my opinion unfair to other greats.

Duran's accomplishments over the weight (Ray Leonard, Palomino, Barkley, lasting against Hagler) put him soundly over any great LW not named Gans or Leonard overall, in my view. So there's no need to get upset.

Olivares is a clearly greater fighter then Julio Cesar Chavez.

I don’t know if he was honest about it or not but the average Joe still mistakes him for an actual fighter.

The historically weak Klitschko era was stronger than the overhyped era that followed (although it’s been exciting!)

Whitaker vs JCC was a good and close fight.

George Foreman is the most overrated heavyweight champion of all time (and I love the guy)

Only Hagler would've beaten a young Tony Ayala.
Riddick Bowe would've crushed Joe Frazier.
    Hagler held back vs. Duran

I have a lot of unpopular boxing opinions. For instance, I believe Max Baer belongs on a top 15 list of all time Heavyweights, and so does Sam Langford.

Hmm,for Duràn I think he did a good job on countering Marvin, sure he looked like it didn't do much, but it definitely got the slow starting Marvin.

Pryor was beating the absolute hell out of Arguello for that whole fight, and the main reason that it's seen as competitive is because of the controversy surrounding the black bottle and hearsay from people who haven't watched the bout. I rewatched most of the fight between my two breaks at work and I was really surprised at just how much Aaron was beating on Alexis.

Makes you wonder why people would EVER think to pit him up against Duran.

Emile Griffith is the true Welterweight king. I think that Robinson, Leonard, Duran, and any other guy you could name down there would lose to him.

Yea there is a perception that Ali was in Manila on vacation with his mistress rather than preparing for his fierce rival. Ali always had alot going on besides boxing but chaos was nothing new.
