Heres a thread from a while back of great southpaws http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2943
Winky Wright is a terrible suggestion he never used the southpaw stance to its fullest. Was flat footed and is more known for being an american with an european style defence. Check out Zab Judah, Chad Dawson, Devon Alexander for boxers that use the southpaw style to its fullest by taking advantage of all angles.
1. Marvin Hagler 2. Pernell Whitaker 3. Hector Camacho 4. Joel Casamayor 5. Manny Pacquio 6. Joe Calzaghe
I wouldn't put him in the pantheon of greatest southpaw fighters ever, but I've learned a lot from watching Paul Williams.
Yeah, because everybody has Judah and Alexander's athleticism and Dawson's athleticism and height. Winky was a good suggestion. He was a fighter who succeeded with a simple, replicable style and didn't have any outstanding athletic trait that made him an unrealistic fighter to copy.
Winky was a good suggestion because it's good to know the basics. But that's no reason not to try the more advanced stuff, they don't have Judah's or Alexander's level of opposition either.
