I never bothered to watch Sugar Ray Leonard vs Roberto Duran 2 in its entirety some odd reason. Of course I've seen snippets of No Mas where Leonard is brutally taunting Duran and makes him quit but I just didn't have the urge to watch it in full given that I already knew the results and the fight itself just seems pale in comparison to the Brawl in Montreal from what I've seen, especially knowing that Leonard changed his game plan completely for the rematch. I'll probably give it another watch at some point. I've heard the third fight is just terrible in general and I think it's better for me to not watch it at all.
For some reason, for such an old school die hard, I missed out on Emile Griffith. I am aware of his record. Two time champion. Yet I have seen too small a number of his fights, whilst I rated him and even enjoyed his ability…I never really researched him enough beyond a bare basic knowledge.
Per the IVs, the Rock has simply struck me as a no nonsense, logical and commonsense guy. Not sure how he might’ve gone on the 64,000 Dollar Question though - particularly up against Joyce Brothers. They might’ve just told him he was correct every time to ensure their own personal safety.
I can’t watch more than three or four rounds of a Benitez fight. If I try to watch a Holmes fight, chances are I’m turning that off too. I’m not even going to bother trying with late 70s Ali.
Yeah, the third fight was like colouring by numbers for Ray. You might call it a clinic - but on Valium. Ray landed some clean, hard shots but he still couldn’t really move the old Hands of Stone. If there was a HL, it was when Roberto landed the right hand to split Ray’s eye open - round 11? That’s not to wish ill on Ray, it was simply a good shot and had it landed on the point of the chin, in a dramatic turn around, Roberto might’ve had Ray in real trouble, just imo. After the cut, Ray boxed uber safely.
