You're kidding yourself if you think Broner could steamroll Ricky Burns.

Burns is a very dangerous fighter! His fight against Martinez proved that he's a true fighter with skills. It was both entertaining and impressive. Against Katsidis he showed intelligence, ring generalship, skills and strength. Very impressive performance. As mentioned above he won't be easy for anyone out there.

i mean, Katsidis is alright. he'll definately make u work for a victory. but hes also very good at getting KTFO. hes nothing more then a "stepping stone" opponent like Mayorga. he loses all of his important fights. Katsidis is no Broner

But the question was, could Burns handle lightweight? He was struggling with the SF limit, and declared that he must move to LW because his body was not responding to SF properly.

Now... Is he bluffing to just duck Broner? If so why is he going up a weight to fight a notoriously dangerous guy at that weight, as a HEAVY HEAVY underdog, Ricky decided to make his LW debut against Katsidis, once he got in there, he looked massive, physically healthy, then went on to work in Katsidis face, and won comfortably ,and thats all the proof you need that he wasn't BSing about his weight just to avoid Broner the Mayweather wannabe

I don't get the impression burns is the kind of fella to duck anybody and lets face it what was to be gained by sticking around at SF. Broner looks to be a good fighter but no way on earth does he walk through Ricky Burns at this stage of his career. Burns would give him hell for sure..

While Burns is a decent fighter, I do not see him winning vs Broner. Burns is talented but Broner is TALENTED.

It wouldnt be easy but Broner would win convincingly. At 22 he has just reached the top level and he will be there for a long time to come.

Too bad Ricky didn't think this himself, he would actually be crazy enough to get embarrassed then.

Cellz,I know you're capable of balanced discussion, but your James Toney style approach is doing you no favours here.Broner is a fighter who you should be excited about, and even though I'm a big fan of Ricky,I don't know if he would have enough to get by AB.
But you are making a serious error of judgement here. There are very few things that have not been widely reported or are historically proven in boxing that I can say I know to be a stone cold 100% fact, but this is an exception.
Ricky did not duck Broner.Trust me,I have nothing to gain here but I know it didn't happen.Almost as good as the horse's mouth here.
Broner probably would have just enough, but it will be much closer than you suspect.People don't realise this is a guy who was heading for domestic gatekeeper status just four years ago.He has nothing to lose and it is complete folly to write him off.I'm well aware he doesn't have big hurtin bombs but he has incredible self belief and no small amount of ability. He has angles and a jab that even many fans don't realise just how good it is.
He has limits but the bigger the challenge, the better he performs. No one should get carried away but no one should poo poo his ability either.
Broner is a superstar in the making,Burns is an excellent fighter who may just become superb.

Many world class fighters have losses and many average fighters are unbeaten so this point means nothing
