You're Miguel Cotto - How do you fight Floyd?

You're a ****ing idiot if you're Cotto and you employ this tactic :good
Cotto is too slow for Floyd and if he puts a lot of pressure he will eat a lot of lead-right or left-cross from Floyd and before he could even react Floyd is nowhere near. His best chance is to make this fight as boring as **** and let Floyd decide to come to him to engage. Cotto has good enough skills to fight at close range and he might get lucky with his left-to-the-liver shot and cripple Floyd. I see this a close fight somewhere around 8-4 or 7-5 but Floyd will take this for sure.

Just noticed that when Cotto should have boxed and not engaged with Pacquiao, he did the latter. Now when i think he should come forward and engage with Mayweather, he is going to box. Ahhhh **** my life..

And you're the ****ing idiot if you think its smarter to box with the best boxer in the world and rely on getting a lucky punch... thats not exactly the best way to WIN a fight. I say Cotto's best shot to actually win is to be the old Cotto. Come forward no matter what with pressure pressure and more pressure. Look what happened to him vs Judah. He was catchin shots to the dome but said **** it, wack to the nuts lol and never took a step back. Literally ran Judah over. Thats what will work vs a boxer with iq and speed like Floyd. Boxing and back peddling will just prolong your inevitable defeat

Cotto is really in a punchers chance only type of fight. If he put pressure on Floyd then Floyd will just pick him apart and if he tries to box then he will get picked apart. Cotto is smaller than Floyd too as for height, and reach. The question should be how will Floyd react to what Cotto brings. Floyd is not going to get bullied in the ring by anyone so all that rough house pressure **** will not work against him and if Cotto hesitates to complain to the ref then he is going to get his ass put out like Ortiz as well.

Every mayweather fight we see these types of predictions and they never come true.

    Every single mayweather fight.

Hmmm you can't really learn to fight southpaw for just one fight (one of your biggest at that) when you've been fighting orthodox your whole career..

First thing I'd do is call up JMM. They've done some discussion together right? Why not discuss with a guy who actually fought him?

Cotto needs a solid right hand to the body. Floyd's defense leaves the rear side of the body too defended to penetrate, and it's just naturally harder to hit that side without leaving yourself exposed. Not only that, Floyd's been injured before in the lead side of his ribcage. If Cotto can draw out his duck, bang at the body. He also has the option to roll into or away from his opponent after ducking, depending on the position in the ring.

Work on fighting inside. Floyd is very adept at clinching and engaging in the pocket, amidst all the wrestling. This type of inside fighting is different from the pressure fighting that say someone like Margarito or Katsidis does, because Floyd's is more geared toward defense and inside positioning (where he can fire and you're too tangled to fire back or can't see him) thus his arms tend to get in the way, sometimes obscuring vision, as well as putting pressure on the neck (with the forearm, he can use it while in front to keep the opponent away, or to push the opponent down). In the clinch if Cotto can keep his arms inside of Floyd's he can produce more leverage in his shots. Also, Floyd will always fire on the break also so he'll need to be cautious of that.

Floyd jabs to the body once in a while, and the speed isn't as fast when he does it. It looks easy to counter but it's a setup trap for the right hand. I don't know if Floyd has a multi-layered trick for this one but I say Cotto should move to the right and go to the body there.

Like another poster said, one of the best opportunities is to bang with Floyd if there happens to be an exchange. The moment is a very small time frame because if his counter isnt successful, he can roll and reset. Forcing the exchange will require a lot of stamina, missing whole combos drain a lot more energy than ducking a ducking/dodging them.

He'll have to assume that Floyd is faster and still hits sharply and work the gameplan with those premises in mind otherwise it'll end up like the Pac fight and in panic mode.

Ortiz fought the right style against Floyd. His mistake was trying to make nice.

Cotto should fight his regular style. Boxer-puncher, mid range fight. Box sometimes, bang sometimes.

Pre-Mosley Cotto was a body punching pressure machine, after Mosley hes a boxer puncher. he needs to revert back to pre-Mosley cotto but that probably wont happen. Cotto has kinda developed a new style for himself in the past years and maybe he doesn't know how to fight the way he once did.

Mayweathers seem to be vunerable to Shotguns and Crack.

Simply slip some cocaine into Floyds water bottle and see how he reacts

If that Fails take his mother ****ing leg out with a shotty

It worked on Roger and Floyd Sr

    :hey :deal

I apologize for the trolling, ive spent all night organising a graphics portfolio and need a laugh

Stay behind a strong jab to make his way in and shoot straight rights down the pipe, whilst Floyd is covering himself up from the right hands whip that left hook down to the body.

Yeah, that's the best I can come up with.

I REALLY like your plan for an attack on Floyd's body.

    Good stuff!:good

However, Cotto learning to "switch" to south-paw -- after training in the orthodox stance -- may be too much to expect.

Only problem with Cotto lately is he's become a bit too patient and laid back whereas he used to be aggressive and had a bit of a killer instinct. He needs to get that back . If he tries to just have a boxing match with Floyd he's gonna lose.

Everyone knows ideally his best shot is jab, push forward, hook to the body, mix in some combos, etc. But Cotto doesn't really fight the way he needs to against Floyd. Not anymore at least.

When Cotto gets handled easily, are you going to talk about how he's shot or near shot or looks shot? It's going to happen, I just want to know now not after the fact.
