Me , since 2003... (i once rented an old school ufc tape back in the 90's but never used to follow the sport)...Then i took it more seriously when crocop entered the scene... And "Nogueira vs Fedor" was a revelation for me.
Since some russian guy Fedor saw me messing around at a Sambo tourny some years back. He seemed awestruck by my naturaly talent and begged me to come train with him. I really didn't want to bother with training anyone at that time and he didn't really strike me as a future champ or anything of the sort even, but I showed him a few basic things and promised to try my best to watch him and follow his career. Does anyone know what that guy is up to now anyway? :huh
I think you're talking about Fedor Jetichev, right? He dropped Sambo to become a 'dog face' man. He is the last picture ever seen of him. This content is protected
since the first UFC. No bull****. My dad got it years ago when I was just a kid and the whole family has been watching it since then. My brother has been doing the full MMA thing for about 9 years now. We all boxed and did a little jujitsu. It influenced us quite a bit.
I remember watching the first 3 or 4 UFC events (back when there was no weight classes and guys were fighting a tourney), then I kinda got bored with that then rediscovered MMA throught Pride and the new UFC about only a year and a half ago. In between, I saw many MMA fights on tv but never got into it.
Same here.I was fascinated by the violence. But at the same time disgusted.Made no diffrence though:yep Thats still one of the worst beat downs ever in the history of MMA.Poor Kens face was a mess.
My friend had an illegal cable box, and I remember watching a large amount of free UFC and porn as a 10 year old. Ah, those were the days. So, I grew up on the early fighters, then I stopped paying attention for awhile after Sen. McCain got it banned from cable. I would say I got back into it big time again about 4 years ago.
Early UFC. I remember the first one I had seen was a rematch between Royce and Shamrock. 95 or 96 me thinks (maybe even earlier? Shamrock Gracie rematch). Was advertised on TV.. I remembered seeing a younger Ken Shamrock around some weight machine, bouncing around, mad dogging the camera. Looked sort of silly, but the bare knuckle, no rules aspect caught my attention at first.
UFC 1....seen almost everyone since....Keith Hackney vs Yarborough....and Shamrock and Gracie...hell even Harold Howard was entertaining..and Tank as well during the early UFC's
since ufc 1. i remember trading tapes with other people back then because they come in few and far apart
