I think the key here is Arbachakov's mentality and poise. He had that totally unflappable Sal Sanchez approach and would just go about his work in an unflappable manner no matter what was coming his way.

Most of his defences were competitive fights, because as you say he would coast along without a great workrate at times, while being hittable enough that opponents who were going flat out could pinch a number of close rounds.

I think he would take Vic out sometime around the 9th while 4 or 5 points up on the cards.Vic comes forward in straight lines and is a bit too much of a pure banger\slugger to have sustained success against the mentally tough Russian.Cha had that mixture of slugger\cutie thing going on, with a lot of awkward lateral movement.

Abrachakov is one of the most under rated fighters I ever saw. Its a pity no one knows who is is, or how good he was.

Great skills, great power, great toughness. I think Vic Darchinyan is the best fly around today. I am a fan of Darchinyan's, but I think Abrachakov would defeat him.

Bingo. It was Mijares's arrogance and lack of mental strength to overcome adversity that did him in, not his technical skills IMO. Arbachakov was undiscouragable, and his sharper technical skills would do him very well. He'd stick with his strategy, feel Vic out, and outbox him. If he were to be dropped or hurt, he'd regroup and come back focused and determined like he always did. His footwork would also help him in maintaining a better distance than Mijares's more flat-footed style, which I again overrated.

Anyone care to make predictions on a prime Chatchai Sasakul and Vic?? i think in hs prime the Thai fighter was very good and also underrated by many pundits.... his loss to Manny seemed to ruin any chance of a great career because for whatevr reason he never recieved a meaningful fight for so many years after his kayo loss... i think he was frozen out of the best years of his career....

Truly an excellent technician and I would pick him to outpoint Vic.

Gotta give Vic a decent shot with his power and the fact Sasakul's chin did betray him pretty badly against a young Pac.
But it would probably be against the run of play aswell, if Saskul fought Pac 10 more times (based on his form of the time) he would probably handle him easy every other time.
