Yuri was a wounded duck--Cotto is still Cotto

  1. Let's face it, Cotto beat a guy with one leg. Give him an eye patch and a hook and he's a pirate.

Cotto did NOT look all that great tonight despite winning. He was doing a terrible job of cutting off the ring before Yuri's knee gave out and he did absolutely NO bodywork in this fight. The only reason he looked so good was because Yuri wasn't throwing any punches--simple as that. People are going to blow this win way out of proportion but, IMO, Cotto didn't do a lot of the things he should've been doing in there. I was unimpressed with his performance.

Good win for Cotto but I think people are overacting, this was Yuri Foreman not Andre Berto, Paul Williams, or Sergio Martinez. Yuri was the weakest belt holder at 154, this doesn't say crap about what to expect out of Cotto, this is about as good as the Jennings win.

Disagree. Cotto was doing a fine job of cutting the ring off. He did ok bodywork. Still, not like the Cotto of old.

Foreman may not be on Cotto's level as a fighter, but Cotto did look much better in a lot of ways.

Ah, the joy of ESB - after many writing Cotto off entirely, the process of under-rating the win has begun. The hypocrisy is gorgeous.

Damn ******s!!! cotto was winning easy before the injury. WTF do you mean by not cutting the ring off?? he was dominating him with stiff jabs and rights and who the hell would cut the ring off entirely when the the other dude(foremam) was on full sprint mode. Give the guy his damn credit.

Everyone was saying he was shot and he just dominated a guy who is very hard to fight. Nobody looks good fighting a guy like foreman even in victory(much like clottey) but cotto did. :bbb

  10. Well, it's better than Jennings, but I agree with what you're saying. It's hardly a barometer for how he would do against someone who actually threw punches back. I just didn't like the Cotto I saw tonight. I was actually bored. Not seeing him cut off the ring or going to the body makes me wonder if he's trying to change his whole style.

    Yeah. I'm blind.

You're right, Cotto was having such a hard time finding Foreman before he ended the fight with a bodyshot.
