Agree with those doubting Gamboa's ability to fight at higher weights.

Will be hard packing more weight on to that frame of his, he looks about as big as it's possible to get without sacrificing some of his physical attributes.

A Gamboa without that potent combo of speed and power just isn't the same fighter. Someone like Rios would be too big, too strong, and might be able to walk through his shots at lightweight. Bad match up for him.

" A Gamboa without speed and power just isn't the same fighter " .....
! Spot on ! Great analisis , a small fighter like Gamboa HAS to relay on his footwork and sharp reflexes , he KNOWS that beign in constant movement is good for him , a flat footed , static Gamboa is easy to hit , a wiry , quick footed one is almost impossible to hit , so ¿ how is it possible that a boxer who relays almost entirely on his footwork doesn't use his laterals ? , the truth is that he does use it a lot but people don't see it or don't want to see it . As I said before , if Gamboa has a flaw , it's his discipline inside the ring , he has to learn to control his emotions and stop punching once his oponent is down , about the rest he is the complete package ( def , footwork , punching power , chin , stamina , etc ) IMO . Peace .

I dont want to sound like im downing Gamboa, because he is one of my favorite fighters..But how can you say he dont get hit much? Hes been dropped a few times and Salido was reaching him in the late rounds... Impossible to hit? His defense is better than average, but hes hardly impossibe to hit.. You act like his defense is on par with a Mayweather, whittaker or Prime Jones.. If hes been tagged by the guys hes already fought, can you imagine if guys Like Barrera,Pac,Marquez or Morales were still at Fw?.. He's just so much better than the comp hes fighting thats why he hasnt gotten nailed hard or repeatedly. I think a big part of Gamboas defense is his awesome offense... How do you know his chin is so great? So far i think its average, kind of unknown if its really good. ... That being said i have him #5 on my pfp list, much higher than most.. A big part of it is because he pfp he is the most explosive fighter in boxing (Nonito too).
