Florida’s Cuban community is also encouraged to turn out to support two of their own, as former Olympic Gold medalists Yan Barthelmy (2-0) and Yuriorkis Gamboa (4-0, 3 KOs) make their US professional debuts on October 30th, with featherweight Barthelmy taking on Alejandro Moreno (23-23-3, 10 KOs) in a six rounder, and junior lightweight Gamboa squaring off against an opponent to be announced.

Nice to see that Gamboa is getting a US fight. Kid is the real deal. He was the least hyped of the three, but I'm easily the most impressed with him.

It will be his 6th fight in just 5 Months

if he keeps going like this, he will soon be 20 - 0 fighting for the world title.

Supposedly, Oner wants him to be fighting for a title by his 10th bout. I could see it happening.

if this is true oner is a dumbass!!

this type of strategy never works.......just look at david reid. it burns out the fighter and shortens his prime.

the guy needs to learn step by step. 15-20 fights should be a minnimum.

its already backfireing with solis. he matches super tough in his first three fights.........so when he matches him with a 19-13 guy in his 4th fight its a downer!!!
so what does he want to do for an encore??

Worked just fine with Kosta Tszyu, Evander Holyfield, Sven Ottke, Anthony Mundine, and had mixed results with Oleg Maskaev.

If a guy has that much amateur experience and has been that dominant, there's no reason to take baby steps. They already have their stamina built up and know a lot of the nuances of the sport, which are the reasons you bring a fighter along slowly. Let them sink or swim - if they sink, they were probably going to sink anyway.

Holyfield and Tszyu are expected to go to the hall of fame.

ottke benefitted from a weak devision (at the time), carefull matchmaking and lost of hometown help.

mundine......last time i looked he got knocked unconcious in his 11 fight when fighting lighthitting ottke.
and he never beat a real super middle top gun!!! echols was a faded blown up middleweight.
and he lost to some bull**** fighters.

and i wont even get into maskaevs career.

have you read what i have written??? i was saying he is being matched too tough to early!!!!

cause if he keeps at this pace he will be fighting top ten guys within his next 3 fights!!

and at this pace, he´ll burn himself out!!

you need to pace yourself and learn the pro game!!

and looking at the scales, solis doesnt even know how to live like a pro yet.
not with his fat ass and belly.

Oner couldnt find good competeition for Yan Barthelemy in Europe in his weightclass thats why he sent him to USA to fight, his going make sure that dosent happen with Solis or Gamboa... he promised them something, and hes going to deliver..... its better to fight good fighter early and get noticed, that fight shity ones and have 50W - 0L and nobody knows your name , PLUS Solis is 27, he dosent have much time to waste if he wants to become world champion

where did i say that he should fight bums??? where did i say he needs 50 fights???

where did i say he needs to be overprotected??

is there only overprotection and overmatchment in boxing for you??

i said he needs to slow down competitionwise!

    learn the game.

how do you expect him to become a champ quickly when he acts like a fat kid with an IQ of about 50??

his ass is fatter than kirstie allies for christ sake!!!!

he needs to become a pro fighter before he can become a pro boxing champ.

But Bum, you can't say the same things about Gamboa...I think the Cuban featherweight has already learned how to fight as a pro...7-8 more fights and he is ready for a world championship bout...

Nice to see this kid staying active. Call me crazy, but even with his lack of experience at the professional level, I think he has the potential to become a P4P fighter one day.
