Who knows if their careers would have turned out as well if they hadn't been moved so quickly, and Holyfield almost certainly wouldn't be known as the best cruiser ever. Yes, Ottke fought in a weak division and got some gifts, but his career turned out fine. Mundine had an early KO loss and apparently has been better for learning from it since, and is a two-time beltholder (albeit paper belts). Those were just off the top of my head though. My point is that for every Leon Spinks who failed, there's a Kostya Tzsyu who succeeded. It's not like these guys don't have massive amateur records. I agree it would be dumb for a novice, but these guys aren't novices.

I agree that Solis needs to slow down, but Gamboa has the goods. In a 6 round fight, he could hang with the top 10 in the featherweight division already. He has some of the quickest hands I've ever seen, and some decent power to go with it. He already has good skills, knows footwork, knows how to take a punch, knows how to fight when hurt, etc. He just needs to get his stamina up to par.
