The problem that I see is this...

A very big percentage of people have a really hard time " admitting " or " accepting " a present newcomer, whether it is in sports, music or politics. When you have the vast majority of people saying " that guy was a legend " or " no one was better than him " it's very hard accepting someone from the present to match their " favorite person " who they think was the absolute best!

Example: When Michael Jackson was starting his career, many felt that he could'nt be compared to legend Presley, and they were right. But what happened as the years passed and Jackson continued to prove his unique talent? Now, the whole world has a very different perspective comparing Jackson to Presley. The same thing happens all the time in sports too. Gavilan is " a established legend " and Gamboa is the newcomer...

With time, all will be known... :good

Forget that crystal ball, when you want the best answer go straight to GOD! Any other alternative is called " Idolatry "...

If there isn't any solid opposition for Gamboa ( but actually there are quite a bit, Lopez, Caballero, Rigondeaux, John, Juarez ), then so be it...

Bring them all on, El Ciclon is here to stay and blow away the competition... :good

He has at least a good 7 to 8 years left... That's enough to wipe out all the featherweight and lightweight division in a storm... :good

Right, that's why a Cuban " amateur " called Diosbelys Hurtado was giving your P4P Pernell Whitaker a Cuban boxing lesson even though that he got extremely " lucky " in stopping Hurtado in the late rounds by hitting a very tired Hurtado against the ropes with just 1 hard punch...Whitaker looked like a fool in that fight, he did'nt know what to do in there with the Cuban. If the Cubans had attended the Olympics were Whitaker won Gold, he would had lost for sure against a better fighter than Hurtado at that time representing Cuba! P4P rankings is a joke...

Whitaker went down 3 times and was losing in all judges scorecards by this " unknown Cuban amateur ", so don't tell me that amateurs mean nothing, a good solid amateur can beat up the best pros at any time... :bart

Just the other day another " unknown Cuban amateur " called Humberto Savigne in just his " second pro fight " KO'd a well known and established professional called Epifanio Mendoza!!!

Does that mean anything to you??? :bbb

Calm down Bori, no need to get insulted, I have not disrespected you...

It's a well know fact that the Cuban amateur competitions ( Cordo bacardin ) and ( Playa Giron ) are the strongest amateur tournaments in the World. This is not said by me, it's also said by American and World sports broadcasters...

There is a tremendous difference in being " North American Champion or NY State Champion " and being Cuban National Champion "...

Sorry if this bothers you! :good

If Hurtado, who was miles away from Gamboa in skills, speed, power, technique and amateur accomplishments, managed to give Pernell all he could handle then Gamboa beats Whitaker either by KO or decision, no doubt about that. The problem is that I don't think Whitaker was ever a featherweight, was he??? All I can remember him was as a welterweight...

...you think awfully high of Gamboa. Pea won titles at 135, 140, 147, and 54 btw.

How about Gamboa and Mayweather at super feather? Or Gamboa and Mantequilla Napoles at lightweight (since youve stated you expect him to clean up there one day)?

Angel Herrera of Cuba defeated Pernell Whitaker in the amateurs, so Pernell already had lost to a Cuban fighter before, Gamboa would had demolished him, no problem... :good

My friend, to be honest with you I don't know how would Gamboa perform at 135lbs since he is very small. I am sure that he can clean up from 126lbs to 130lbs but higher than that I really don't know since in those weights there are some really tall and tough opponents ( but then again, Gamboa can very well get to them with his devastating speed )...

If Gamboa VS Mayweather ( at either 126lbs or 130lbs ) I would favor Gamboa all the way, Mayweather after all had a real tough time in defeating " a very average Cuban " in the amateurs by socores of 14-13 I believe, so yes Gamboa will definitely beat him easily...

About Mantequilla, that's really a more difficult fight for him but I don't think that Mantequilla was ever a featherweight, was he??? :huh
