Yuriorkis Gamboa is not your typical over hyped fighter.

nay.. Jorge Linares and Juanma Lopez would bust his hype bubble and Chris John would give him hell.

I like Gamboa a lot, he has a lot of amateur experience, but it seems he gets to over confident in the ring and thats something that worries me a lot... I want to see him succeed but he has to calm himself a little more inside the ring... even when he gets drop he comes out even more aggressive, which he shouldnt be... one day he might get caught... but getting drop to the canvas doesnt me your not a good fighter... Trinidad got drop many times and was very successful at ww...

All's we know about Gamboa's chin is that it isn't iron, flash knockdowns don't mean he's glass or even shaky, I'm banking that he's probably got an average chin.

Nobody can says he has a glass chin, the truth is the knockdowns were because of balance he has NEVER been hurt and he has never seen as if he is hurted, thats the truth, until someone makes him look hurt nobody can says he has a weak chin...

No matter who Gamboa beats people will find some way to say he's over-hyped or glass jawed, I just don't pay attention to those posts.

The guy is good. I just don't think he is as good as some people want to believe. Let's remember one thing. Gamboa has more ring experience than most of his opponents. Ok. He spent a long time in amateurs. But those rounds sparring at the gym teach you a lot. So, OF COURSE he wont look like other guy with 15 fights and may be 20 amateur fights. The guy has lots of experience. He just fought a 37y/o guy that had 3 fights in 3 years. A guy that was never top material. The guy is good, but has not done anything yet to be called a star. Let's wait and see

Cotto was getting hit by decent fighters, Gamboa is getting hit and dropped by clubfighters. Not the same at all.

I just say wait and see...That kid is going down. He will look like a new born doe taking his first steps when a world class fighter cracks him on the chin.

Im not sure that is true. I dont really think that Gamboa is disliked on this site, I just think that most people see him for what he really is. While other see what they want to see. Or I should say they dont see the big red sign that is were his chin should be:yep

Nopes . . . he has only 15 PRO fights and he has already fought fighters with 2 times and three times more than his PRO FIGHTS.

In fact I won't call him a HYPED fighter at all. He has just won't a world title on his 15th PRO fight against a guy with a total of 32 PRO fights.

I think Gamboa has the potential to be on the p4p list if he continually progresses and gets better.

and one knockdown courtesy of an elbow by Marcos Ramerez. And this means he has no chin?

Did anybody notice that his defense looked a lot better against Rojas?

Yeah, much better, although I'd say he simply cared about his defense, paced himself and looked for countering opportunities, and unlike when he just went out for the KO wide open, the defense come this time around. Ironically, the Gamboa haters summary of the fight was "where was the famous knockout power?"

BTW, what's the latest info on your boy Felix Diaz, who announced to turn pro a few weeks ago?
