Yuriorkis Gamboa is not your typical over hyped fighter.

Rojas fight showed us another side of Gamboa, that he could in fact be sound on defense. I think he hasn't respected most of his other opponents, and he get's himself so far out of position and off-balance that he is getting hit with "prayer" shots by other fighters. His chin isn't granite, that's for damn sure, but the KD's were more from what Gamboa did wrong (stupid) then what the opponent has done right.

He needs to learn what controlled aggression is.

 

His offensive skills are disproportionately better than his chin and defense. It's like a bodybuilder with huge pecs, bars and pythons, but legs that look like match sticks. So while expectations and praise are built based on Gamboa's offensive prowess, people also expect someone to knock him out and deflate his momentum.

 

3 flash knockdowns and 1 by and elbow, how does he have a glass-jaw?

 

The bad thing about the knockdowns is they're probably an allusion of things to come, but Gamboa can improve with his skills and experience.

 

Are there any fighters who has won a world title in his PRO 15th fight? . . . fighting opponents who has twice or three times his PRO experience?

I'm not into Gamboa's HYPE train . . . but I do appreciate the guy for what he has accomplished so far and how his career was being planned.
