1 of the few least protected prospects and he has a style similar to RJJ, watch out for this guy, his power is so intense he was able to take out a middle weight despite campaiging in the light weight division.
yeah man looks like he's got a good record. a dude with 51 pro fights in his third fight is no joke. Do you know what he accomplished in the amateurs?
I've seen a couple of Gamboa fights. Very good fighter and definetely and future champ. But he's already 25.
Just watched his fight with Mayo.... Damn that kid is fast. He seems to have decent pop along with the speed. He puts his punches together well....as well as knows how to have the right leverage on them. Also, he has very good footwork and movement. The only knock I noticed is, when he throws his left jab....he drops his right hand way down to his waist. Against the Mayo's of the world, this is fine....but once he fights a really good fighter...or a really good counterpuncher, this could be a problem. Of course this is going off of one fight....but it seems in his mechanics. All that said, fighting a guy with 50+ fights in his third fight....HE LOOKED LIKE THE SEASONED VET...backing the guy up, hitting him at will. Impressive to say the least. But that was a ridiculously early stoppage....sorry, needed to be said...LOL!
Pretty much. Not at all the same defensive style though, and a LOT more pop than Guzman. His hands are just as quick though.
I've hyped him along time...it's about time that my affort pays off and people at esb seeing him as the next superstar in the lower weight division...
I will. As I said. The Mayo fight was the first time I saw the kid...and he impressed the **** outta me.
