Ahmet Ohner is talking about Cuban phenomenon Gamboa and World Champion Brandon Rios wanting to face each other very soon and it could just happen. We still haven't seen Yuriorkis at 130lbs much less at 135lbs, but considering the freakish talent that Gamboa has and that he comes in around 146lbs at fight time it's very easy to assume that he gives Rios a schooling or stops him. How do you guys see this fight if it happens now?

I go with Gamboa by TKO or boxing lesson. ;)

A guy named Cuban Bon Bon sporting a Gamboa avatar is picking Gamboa here? Shock horror.

I highlighted the parts I found most amusing.

I expect Rios by a come from (far) behind T/KO, although I hope Gamboa pulls it off.

To clarify, I expect Rios to walk him down taking a lot of punches in the process.

Gamboa jumping up 2 divisions at once? I prefer he stays at 126/130 and eventually fights donaire, juanma, russel jr., broner, uchiyama, garcia.
In this match up im picking rios by tko.

Rios by late stoppage. Gamboa does have freakish ability, but he isn't the most elusive of boxers. He's been hit quite a few times already and knockdowns have often ensued, and all of this down at 126lbs. Rios will be easily the best fighter he's fight up until this point, and the biggest. Rios is big for even a Lightweight. I see the Mexican's pressure breaking down the Cuban late.

Thanks for your posts guys, but being taller or heavier won't have too much effect on someone as fast as Gamboa. And Gamboa can be a very technical fighter when he chooses to box, that's how he defeated Ponce de Leon.

So, by your votes a Gamboa win would be considered an " upset "? Wow ...

Sure, jumping 2 divisions creates a big ? for gamboa, and rios is currently the best lightweight.
Not saying gamboa is incapable though, just would prefer it if he moved up slowly rather than jump several divisions.

Nationalities aside, I am not considering my vote based on being Cuban. Gamboa is a unique talent, having possibly the fastest hands in boxing and with great KO power in both hands. Plus, he is one of the best amateur boxers of all times. I say he is more than capable of beating anyone up to 135lbs.

Me too, I would prefer for him to fight a couple of solid Champs at 130lbs and then move up to 135lbs. But if they feel that he can handle those guys at 135 then I guess they know more than us. I remember that Cuban Casamayor ( who I compare directly to Gamboa for both being Gold medal winners and from the same Cuban boxing schools ) was way better at 130lbs than 135lbs. But I know that Gamboa is a whole different animal altogether! ;)

If Gamboa has true power like Pacquaio type power or even Martinez type power, Rios gets knocked out. He don't have that much skill.

Even if he wins he's going to take a HUGE beating to knock Gamboa out.

    Rios has a punchers chance.
