Gamboa's first defense could come Aug. 1 on Showtime against unified junior featherweight titleholder Celestino Caballero.
A bit too early and Caballero is a stylistic nightmare, ask Ponce De Leon or Molitor. He's no Mayweather or Trinidad in the ring, but awkward, powerful and busy enough to give all figthers from 122 to 130 a lot of trouble. He's the Paul Williams of the lower divisions and a punisher himself. Bold but very risky choice from Gamboa's management, Caballero is one of the top elite fighters of these divisions with the others being Vazquez, Marquez, Juanma and Chris John. Gamboa has faced some good fighters in his short pro career, but there's a level or two missing between the best and these guys. But I guess that's what they meant by storming through to the top in no time. Bring it on! :happy
Caballero has the height and reach to give the young boy hell. Gamboa is good - but still need to work on his defense. With that being said - I'll go with Caballero by UD.
If Gamboa keeps working on his defence (which looked much better in his last match) then Gamboa by UD.
cabellero is taller and has the reach on gamboa but he has struggled with fighters that are shorter than him remember his fight against Jorge Lacierva.
