I don't see Gamboa walking through the same punches Salido did.

Maybe. Even if he gets dropped, it isn't a sure thing he'll stay down. It's a misnomer when people say Gamboa has 'chin' issues. A chin (in boxing terms) has two components. Gamboa has poor punch resistance, but excellent recovery. He's never been hit with a shot that left him badly hurt and unable to shake it off. He's been caught out of position and rocked off his axis of balance. Down many times against lower than world level opposition, yes - but all flash knockdowns.

Ponce De Leon didn't land much flush on him, but he did get a through overhand lefts through on the chin. Gamboa took them pretty well.

Gamboa beats Lopez 15/10 times and looks great doing it.

he did actually when he fought salido, the difference is that juanma's defence is horrible and was taking more than what he could swallow.
Gamboa gets hit less and in my opinion has a better chin- never been in trouble.Juanma almost in every big fight has been in trouble at some point(mtagwa, concepcion, marquez, salido). He just have big cojones and a heavy hands

No, I disagree. Flash knockdowns sure, but he gets hurt. Even if his recovery has been good so far. It was no off balance KD when Salido dropped him.

I thought it was you who said people were making up their minds about the fight when comparing common opponents.

You're all ignoring that Gamboa hasn't proven to be as tough as Salido just because he beat Salido. I don't really see that Salido and Lopez or Gamboa are all that similar to make the comparison.

that wasnt my point, my point is that gamboa doesnt need to go thru an inside war because he has the skills to stay outside while leading the offensive game.He doesnt get hit and when he does-he takes it well.

I disagree. Gamboa hasn't really shown a special ability to absorb punishment.

Gamboas game is aggression, if he fought an outside fight against Lopez,we'd see a horrible fight, with 2 guys fighting in styles they aren't used to. Plus Lopez has the reach, it wouldn't make sense for Gamboa to fight that fight.

It'd be a shootout. I'm not sure why you guys don't think it'd be a great fight.

i didnt say it woudnt be a great fight,i'd love to see that fight.
i believe gamboa wins it-not because their common opponents- but because styles make a fight and Lopez defense is C minus wich is bad news against gamboa's speed. But i will never rule out lopez from that fight

Oh well, I misunderstood, I thought you were saying it shouldn't happen because of the common opponents.

I'd love to see that fight. I think its a good style matchup. Gamboa doesn;t really have anything else to do and if Lopez is as **** as everyone thinks, Arum should cash in now. Its actually probably the best fight out there for Gamboa from a financial standpoint.

To me, Salido is a worse style fight for Lopez than Gamboa. I like Lopez and would not be surprised if he just can't beat Salido.

he just can not engange with salido in a war,his hands are heavy enough to keep salido away from him.But lopez was used to get away with those wars before, salido was a diferent customer.
