It seems Cruz vs. Davis is about to start.

Weird. Jumping from a 4-rounder to the 10-rounder. I'd have thought this would "headline" the non-HBO undercard.

Luis Cruz comes out to some...very Latino music. Is that reggaeton?

 

Round 1

Cruz throws a 1-2-3 to open up. Nice uppercut by Cruz. Davis is keeping his forearms up as pillars to either side of his head, trying to catch Cruz's shots. Davis falls in to grab. Cruz pulls back above the waist, making Davis lunge and miss with a jab. Cruz throws a quick jab to the chest. Long right hand by Cruz, lands hard on the back of the head as Davis turns from it. Cruz stays tall and jabs. Davis comes forward trying to toss a right to the body but gets countered with a sharp jab. Overhand right by Cruz, again hitting behind the ear as Davis ducks down. Long jab to the nose by Cruz. Davis is circling a few feet away, moving his arms up and down. Davis comes in low and holds.

Round 2

Davis is staggered badly by a left hook, careening backward into the ropes. Cruz comes in patiently, but landing hard crisp power shots. Davis clinches but gets thrown and turns his back to him while tumbling into the turnbuckle as Cruz follows after and claps him on the back. It's ruled a knockdown. Davis is staggered back a step by a hard jab. Cruz throws a right uppercut anticipating Davis coming forward but misses as Davis stops short. Right hand, left hook combo by Cruz. Davis ducks a right hand but takes a short left hook to the face. Cruz lands the uppercut now. Davis springs at the knees, backing out and circling left. Thudding right hand across the side of the head by Cruz as Davis come in to tie up. Cruz drops a straight right to the body. Cruz swings wildly, with absolutely terrible form. Cruz ties up and they drift together to the ropes.

Super hot, busty ring card girl and they play "Shake that Laffy Taffy".

 

The Hispanic color commentator is really dogging Cruz for a supposed lack of speed, but he doesn't seem that slow of hand to me. :think He's just very economical and doesn't seem to throw many combos.

 

Round 3

Davis is falling in chaotically, his arms up in the air and his head curled down. Cruz hits him with well timed counter uppercuts. Both are clinching. Davis is tapping the back of Cruz when tied up but doing almost nothing during the breaks. Weak jab by Davis, and Cruz doubles his own jab right past it and hooks off it. Davis is diving in trying to clinch, not land punches. Cruz waits for the referee, just working to keep Davis' arms down at his sides rather than push him off. Cruz starts to sharp shoot with his jab, hunting Davis across the ring as they slowly circle. Davis is eating jabs and trying to get close enough to hold, with his shoulders hunched up awkwardly. Cruz lands a hook to the body.
