I will try to answer your question maybe a long amateur career, maybe fighting in the wrong division, wrong promoter, fighting in court with promoters, been inactive, falling for 50 cents manager too many problems for a great talent fighter I think he's done.

This is how I see it. He was never anything other than a natural FW. He was never going to be the same force at LW. As time has passed, his lack of relative size at LW, has being exacerbated by him passing and becoming further removed from his physical prime.

Great talent but he was clearly just too small for 135. He should've stayed at 126/130. His form at 135 is poor. He should be 7-6 (2 KOs) at that weight. Granted he was shot for some of those losses though.

I remember when Gamboa used to be hot sh#t in the late 2000s and early 2010s. In his prime he was sensational and looked like Mike Tyson mixed with Roy Jones Jr. Crazy to see how bad his career turned out. Also didn't help that he had 50 f^cking Cent as a promoter. It's sad seeing him being reduced to being a gatekeeper.

He fled illegally so to me it makes no sense.

Of course not, he will probably be seen as a traitor.

He was an offensive machine, with a Swiss cheese defense.

It was actually a joke. But yeah it really doesn't make much sense why he would even go back if he defected.

Good Post. Gamboa o the mtagwa fight was a beast. Insane speed and ability. I think Bob arum was keeping gamboa juanma away from each other at that time. That would have been a great fight if they made it then, before the juanma mtagwa fight. Juanma was always coming for the kill and had good power but it would have been Gamboa coming out party. Arum screwed the public with that one
