Just like in Maravilla Martinez's case, most fans have misconceptions about Yuriorkis Gamboa's resume. He's been fighting top level, prime and hungry opposition but credit is somehow short on the fan-friendly Cuban, Daniel Ponce De Leon's capture of the WBC FW title however is another blow for the critics.

In his last 4 fights Yuriorkis Gamboa fought and defeated
    - Victor Barros who then went on capturing the WBA FW belt and beating Caballero before losing in a close rematch
    - IBF FW champion Orlando Salido in unifictaion who then went on knocking out Juan Manuel Lopez twice, capturing the WBO belt, Salido fights Mikey Garcia next
    - sparked out interim WBA SFW champ Jorge Solis in 5 brutal rounds
    - dominated Daniel Ponce De Leon who arguably beat Adrian Broner in a robbery loss and stopped Jhonny Gonzalez for the WBC FW belt

Gamboa now plans to move up and take on the 5th champ in IBF SFW titleholder Juan Carlo Salgado, if the 50c/Mayweather card goes through, maybe some of our Cubans can reflect on the status of the show.

It's a damn impressive run, these guys he's facing are in their primes and Gamboa is beating them with ease and some expected tough moments. Hopefully his Maravilla moment will come soon, because former promoter Bob Arum did a nice ****job pushing the JuanMa superfight back until a Gamboa leftover beat the poor Puerto Rican.

One of the biggest talents in recent years, like Roy Jones before him makes good fighters look like they dont belong in the same ring with him, hopefully we get to see him against Boner soon so fools can see the difference between an elite level fighter and an overrated hypejob, also would like to see him more active fighting at least three times a year would be perfect.

Agreed, a young up and coming guy who is as good as Gamboa should fight a lot more

My favorite fighter, been saying he's future p4p #1 since 07. He's not only beating these very good fighters he's embarassing them and destroying them for the most part. Dude is the ****ing truth and has the most exciting style in the game. Been telling fools that Rigo ain't **** compared to Gamboa.

Not trying to derail your thread or anything but the Gonzalez/Ponce decision really baffled me. I had the same score as Farhood, didn't see Ponce doing anything but flail and miss up until the knockdown.

He hasn't fought in a year and it doesn't look like he will anytime soon either, if he isn't careful his prime will be over, before he's had a chance to get in the ring during it.
