It's a **** fight that I blame Hearn for rather than Froch, without the guaranteed fights of the super 6 Hearn is struggling to get him opponents and he only got Bute over as he was being ducked by Kessler, Dirrell and Ward.
A very mediocre opponent for the supposed "fight anyone" Froch.I sure as hell wouldn't pay to watch this sparring match.Hearn not doing his job-probably a money issue.
there's no fighter who has had it tougher than carl froch the last 2-3 years, so he's in line for a soft touch, and even yusaf mack has some bite. I wish there were more fighters like the cobra in the sport today, especially at heavyweight.
I don't blame Froch for taking a less risky fight while waiting for the Bute rematch. Sure there are other guys I'd like to see Carl fight, but it's not like his record is built on termater cans.
This match up was all about the $ and being safe at the same time. As mentioned before, I don't want anything getting in the way of Bute and Froch. Both have weak opposition (more so Froch). We'll see the outcome...
I would have liked to see him fight someone better. Wouldn't we all? Still, he deserves a tune-up or payday like everyone else. Nothing to whine over.
Would you really take a Bika type fight just to stay busy? Cuts and a very tricky night. This is just a stay sharp fight as Bute has a contract that stipulates that he gets a rematch (which I am sure Froch will be very well paid for). Bute obviously didn't want the fight straight away but Froch wants a fight in between, he needs a fighter who will make him work, has good skills but he will beat pretty comfortably down the stretch and won't have many injury risks. This fight makes sense in the circumstances, if there was no rematch clause I think we would see Froch vs Kessler, but Froch knows that will be around after the 2nd Bute fight and he is also very confident he can beat Bute a 2nd time after he manhandled him in the first fight. People who say Mayweather always fights a top opponents need to remember that he only fights once a year. Pac fights twice a year but Clottey wasn't a great opponent, the Sugar Shane he fought was well past it and Pac won all those fights. Froch has fought top fighters every 6 months for the last few years and has lost 2 fights but he didn't take a weak opponent after a loss like most fighters do.
Cant really blame Froch for taking this fight. We know that his camp tried to get better opponents who were either not interested or the deals fell through. To be fair also, fights against the likes of Pavlik, Dirrel or Oosthuizen would have been risky ahead of a big payday return bout with Bute.
He's actually not that big of a puncher. He didn't KO Andrade, but he did knock him down in the 1rst round and he's been able to get misleading rep from that (he has 17 KO wins in 37 fights). Ultimately, Andrade TKO'd him...Mack couldn't manage that kind of pressure (and if Froch brings the heat, he just might ground him down pretty fast) He's not a bad fighter, he does certain things well, but he does nothing outstanding, and he has a terrible stamina. Basically. he tries to be slick a lot but he's not exactly great at it, he still gets caught with some frequency. He likes to counterpunch, but he also tends to hang around in the pocket a lot in an effort to make his opponent respect him when it's not beneficial for him.
