I had spoke with Mack about a fight he is in the process of setting up with Karo Murat. Boxrec shows that Mack has a fight on 12/12 with Ross Thompson on the undercard of Diaz v Paulie M. Murat's team had been aiming for a 1/30 meeting with Mack. If this does happen it will clearly be in Germany. Very risky choice for Mack. But, it's also a very risky choice of opponents for the young Murat. Mack is an incredibly good fighter. In his first difficult fight at light heavy against Chris Henry he landed at ease on Henry's face. Henry never saw that right straight coming. Henry is a tough light heavy, but Mack was able to wobble and hurt him at times. If Murat does take this fight (which I'm leaning towards doubting right now) it will be incredibly impressive of the young fighter.
i am confused about this. i read on rafael's blog that murat vs glenn johnson was mandated by the ibf to be an eliminator.
Drats! Then Murat v Mack has to be off. I spoke to Mack last week. 1st he was going to fight Murat in the beginning of Jan. Then that fight fell through and he was on the Diaz-Paulie M fight against a TBA. Then they were back into negotiations with Murat so they ditched the undercard fight on 12/12 aiming for a fight with Murat for 01/30. I'm guessing negotiations fell apart again. Not really interested in seeing Murat v Johnson. Murat v Mack would have been a much more bold decision for both involved. And with respects to the actual fight, much more exciting.
Mack said that Chris Henry has been hunting him down for a rematch. I don't know why, because I thought Henry got a gift in only lossing an SD to Mack.
Murat looked damn average and small in his light heavyweight debut. I didn't see his fight against campillo, but I have heard that it was a close match and there have been talks that campillo was weak at that weight I really don't know. I would favor both Johnson and Mack to beat Murat.
