He fought floyd patterson,archie moore,chuvalo and many others.later in his life he lost his fishing boats,then later was charged with shooting a man outside his night club.he hired on frank mckenna as his lawyer and got off with self defence.this after the guy was shot more then 1 time and if i remember a car had been driven over him as well.i'm told by ppl that knew him he'd show up at closing time to belt around a few of the patrons.yvon lived a wild life
His first fight with Archie Moore is a classic lightheavyweight fight for sure. I believe Durelle was a 3-to-1 underdog in that one, one of my favorites. It's still a miracle that Moore made it through the first round, if you see how badly hurt he is from the first knockdown. Haven't seen his fights with Patterson and Chuvalo, though. From what i've read, he got into the later rounds with George pure on heart, because his opponent was just too much stronger, bigger and younger.
yes chuvalo knocked him down a few times in that match.it was a case of george just being to big and strong for the former light heavyweight
i never met yvon,and won't now he passed away sometime ago.i even had his telephone number,he liked to talk boxing had is house set up as a musium.after he retired he did some refereeing and even wrestled some here in canada.
