Zab Judah is not a good fighter on the backfoot.

Something I have come to realize watching Zab, he has a okay/decent D when backed up, but thats half the problem, he does not have enough transition from defense to offense, not consistently anyway. Judah's only transition is to counter you with the odd single as your coming in, like his uppercut, but when he does that, he kinda invites you into mid range to land/walk you into it, only if he misses, or connects and your able to take it, you can start hitting his body and applying pressure because he has let you inside, see most fighters wont let you walk in and try to nail you with a Hollywood counter cause it looks great, they will keep you off them by throwing multiple counter punchers when you try to walk in the front door, which means they can keep you honest, so you dont!! try and constantly walk them down, but like I say, Judah is only interested in trying to land that hollywood shot, but there is little to no offense to keep you off after that, he is a singles shot hitter on the backfoot imo.

Also, anyone notice how he would not commit to that jab? he was throwing the jab as though to bait Lucas in so he could nail him with a counter, but what he needed to do, was to create his offense by stepping in behind the jab, throw that offensive shot gun jab to put him on his heels, then follow up, only Judah was just throwing a defensive type of jab to draw Lucas into a mistake so he could counter, but thats not the way to create offensive opportunity's for yourself when the other guys is fighting patiently, and is mindful of what your trying to do.

He's never been particularly good in any respect other than raw speed and power imo.

I think Lucas might of won it to be honest, could of got a draw at least, I mean, if Lucas scored a KD, and still lost the fight, how many rounds did the judges give him? not many.

Judah looks shot. In his younger days he threw body punches, combinations and had good stamina.

A 20 year old Judah against Micky Ward. He throws around 900 punches in the fight. 85 punches in the 10th round. 88 punches in the 11th.

You'll all see when Zab outclasses Pacman soon...knocking him out the same way Robinson stopped Fullmer. If Zab's focused, I mean, of course.

Completely agree with the OP here (even though I'm a Judah mark)

He def. let's people come in too easy looking for that hollywood shot (which he didn't even throw many of on Saturday). His jab is pawing, range finding, inviting- really. He doesn't commit to it, and I think Max was right to chide him for that.

Clean single shots score points with the judges, Zab was landing clean jabs and some straight lefts to go with them. Keep in mind Matthysse has a 92% knockout ratio, coming into the fight he won all his fights by KO except for one, you make a mistake with Matthysse and you're out.
