I suppose it's easy years later to criticise comparisons or people thinking a fighter is going to be special. It is funny looking back though.
I have a feeling Broner will be in this category sooner than later. It's a Sad state in boxing when a guy like Broner gets called the next mayweather.
Or the chin, heart, stamina and work-rate. Zab might have been a harder hitter, and a his hands might have been a smidgen faster than Sweet pea, but thats the only advantages you could give him. Peas power is a bit underrated to, he had enough power to get guys respect and he had some really good knockouts.
I like Broner but I think you might be right, getting all this undeserved hype never seems to be a positive thing for a fighter.
GGG is the worst current hyped. MW Tyson, the next Hagler etc.... I remember the kellerman espn zab jockriding days hahaha he always had zab so high on his p4p list, way too high, he never stopper yammering about judah. that said, judah was a joy to watch on his rise up, he looked like he was gonna be too much for just about everyone but people didn't know he was a bit chinny and a headcase
Im not quite old enough to remember early Judah but in all honesty in his early years wouldnt this be a valid comparison he was undefeated, quick, probably looked very good defensively vs his early comp and probably had a snappy jab and fast combinations at the time when he said it was he really that far off? As far as the Tyson label I think it gets tossed out way too much. Tyson was at least a short, stocky, powerful puncher who could bob and weave and end fights early and just seemed like an animal lots and lots of fighters have been given the label while only fitting certain criteria but not all of it. most guys are called Tyson for early KO's, but I mean dont a lot of punchers do this that doesnt make them Tyson, it could make them Foreman too all kidding aside Golovkin somewhat embodies Tyson in the sense of how much respect he has for the craft, doesnt waste punches, very sharp punchers, defensive minded and score KO's on counters, explosive
judah physically was one of the best. he had all the tools. had few flaws but the flaws he had were big
That was the hype when he was a prospect. There have been times where he's lived up to the hype. However there has been more times where he hasn't.
