I'm really surprised at the responses so far. Granted, I haven't seen Maidana fight in a while, but last time I checked he was a pressure fighter with heavy hands, and he was tough enough to keep coming even when you knock him down or hurt him. His looping right is particularly dangerous, and works best when the opponent is moving away from him. That sounds like a nightmare fight for Judah.

Judah can counter punch well (he was even countering Mayweather back in their fight, something I still find surprising) but when you start applying pressure he tends to have a meltdown. You don't even need to have power...you just have to be consistently aggressive and tough. Baldomir kept coming forward until Judah fell apart. Mayweather had trouble until he started getting more aggressive and using body shots, as well as right hand leads. Judah had to throw a low blow just to halt the flow of the match. Cotto was getting caught with sharp shots but kept coming forward until Judah couldn't handle it any more. (Although, to be fair, he did get hit with low blows.) We have also seen Khan using aggressive combinations that unsettled Judah and broke him down.

Judah hates it when you get aggressive with him and rough him up. He just keeps moving away, and withdraws more and more into his shell. Maidana is surely a terrible match up for him -- he won't try to box on the outside with jabs. He'll be throwing big power punches, constantly coming forward, and getting rough on the inside. People say that Maidana is slow, but how fast was Baldomir? Even if Judah lands good counters, Maidana has shown the toughness and heart to keep coming, which will discourage Judah even more. There's also Maidana's looping right hand, and Judah is always backing up, which means he might just walk right into it.

I agree with everything you said. solid analysis. I'm surprised by responses as well. people must have lost faith in maidana since his thorough loss to devon alexander, which was a surprise to me.
