I think that Hatton has more left in the tank than Zab currently, and would take a close but non-controversial UD. Back in their respective primes, I see Zab being able to give Hatton fits with his southpaw stance and hammer of an uppercut - but on the flipside Zab don't like being pressured relentlessly as Hatton could do (and still can to a certain degree). Either way, I don't see this going the distance.
but seriousely i dnt rate hatton much now in terms of p4p but Beeston Brawler right he dnt like pressure and hatton has a higher imput pressure than clottey, clottey is more walk down and wear out. so hatton close ud BUT i think zab has stil got good pop and at 140 i think he is very dangerouse as he could land a flash uppercut and it could be lights out hitman
Agreed. Zab just does not have the focus of late to fight and beat the best fighters. He was beating Clottey at times by utilizing his superior footwork and speed to box and move, but he just could not stick with it. He gets drawn into exchanges and stands and trades and trys to pull of flashy combos, and starts moving straight in and straight out, and it doesnt work against the elite competition. Clottey was just given ample opportunity to counter him and use his superior size and strength to bust him up. Judah could have beaten Clottey, he has the skills to beat anybody, but his mental game is just not there. Hatton would put the pressure on him, and unlike Floyd who did a great job of not getting into exchanges with Hatton and used his defense, I feel Zab would inevitably end up trading after 3 or 4 rounds and start getting hit on the inside and would being moving straight in and out instead of outboxing Hatton . A Hatton UD would be entirely possible. Zab has never handled pressure fighters well.
Clottey is a bit like Margarito in that he likes to walk people down and wear them out before stopping them. Prime Zab had the footwork to stay out of range - though a strong right hand has always been kryptonite to him. Hatton is an out and out brawler these days - having been a more rounded fighter below the elite level. The footwork wouldn't be an issue because he is always able to stay right in the zone and in previous years had the beard to withstand anything. These days he tends to rely a bit more on survival instinct. Though Hatton has never lost to a southpaw, he ain't ever looked good against one - nor actually faced one as good as Zab
Unless you are bigger and stronger than Hatton - getting into a trading war on the inside means only one thing. DEATH If you are bigger ala Margo etc, you would in turn destroy Hatton. I just don't feel Zab is physically strong enough at 140, and would be thrown around the ring in a prime for prime matchup before collapsing mentally and being taken out. He lacks the mental fortitude - even Mayweather took six rounds to properly figure Hatton out, from then on it was a masterclass - though Floyd was 3 1/2 - 2 1/2 in front at the midway stage.
You mean 147 I take it? But I agree with your assessment as well. And you are right about Floyd taking awhile to properly figure out to fight Hatton. I had Hatton winning the earlier rounds just because he was the agressor throwing punches. Floyd did not just walk into the ring and start outboxing him. All credit to Floyd though, he showed why he was P4P. But Judah would not be figuring Hatton out. He had Clottey figured out, he just didnt know it. I dont feel that he is that intelligent of a fighter. He does what he knows, but he doesnt have the metal accord to analyze his opponent and alter his game plan. His speed and natural talent are what won him fights, but against certain elite fighters, he is simply not as effective. Hatton by UD. he just roughs Zab up. Judah for certain would have his moments, but the bodyshots and constant roughhousing would get to him. Once he starts feeling uncomfortable he loses it.
No I did mean 140 - though he is taller and has a longer reach than Hatton he isn't as strong. I agree with you - he lacks the intelligence, he was beating Mayweather and lost the fight as much as Floyd won it through the middle section of the fight. When you think about it, Hatton isn't all that easy to figure out. OK - you expect the pressure and constant lefts to the body, but what you can't pick is the range that they come from. Throw in the under-used straight right together with the footwork and you have a difficult fighter to figure out. Tips to beating Hatton...... Orthodox Fighters Get on your bike and attempt to frustrate - hold and clinch wherever possible, don't allow yourself to be outmuscled and keep the elbows tucked in. Use a stiff straight left rather than a jab as the rangefinder to help swing the close sessions your way in the eyes of the judges, and counter using a straight right and left hook. Southpaw Fighters Use the right hook wherever possible, and be cagey - do not stand and trade. Watch the Collazo fight - but don't get lazy (see 11th) and allow Hatton to steal rounds.
what? **** off! No way does Judah take Hatton that guy along with Miranda is one of those fighters who's never reached the lofty heights many seem to think they belong to here on ESB! Hatton would ****ing decimate Judah quit the nuthugging ok, the guy has never amounted to anything he's a better than average boxer thats it nothing more nothing less. Shesh!
