Mark Cuban is also nothing more than a fan he's never picked up a basketball in his life. Skip Bayless also knows alot more about the NBA than the common fan just like kellerman knows more about boxing than the common fan. No one is asking you to worship these guys or even think of them as experts when guys like George Foreman and Roy Jones jr legitimate experts on the X's and O's routinely made comments and predictions that were far off the mark. It's calling them fanboys and or jokes that just really makes people look stupid and quite frankly full of themselves in my opinion
Because he displayed very good skills against a low level of opposition. Some on here are convinced boxing has progressed a huge amount since the 30s despite a huge drop off in the matchmaking. They argue this point purely on the eye test. The eye test is something Judah passed until he ran into a great opponent.
Prime zab had a lot of natural talent, speed, and power, he was also a very young champion so it makes a lot of sense why he was hyped up. Troll thread
In the era of 4 major belts what does beating Jan Piet Bergman really mean? He was utterly destroyed in that same division when he stepped up.
Zab Judah was one of the best movers inside a boxing ring that I ever did see. Only someone in complete denial of his talents would dispute this. Zzzzzzab's chicken dance moves are the stuff of legend. As for him having no fighting heart, c'mon. Did you see the way he squared up to Jay Nady after getting poleaxed by Kostya Tszyu? He was ready to throw down! Right then & there.
Mark Cuban clearly knows more than Skip ****ing Bayless. The guy's a complete chancer who's trolled his way through a career because it's easier than actually bothering to learn the various schemes and plays you would to do his job properly. "Lebron was supposed to come hard and he did not come hard." Yeah alright boss. Meanwhile Cuban is a team owner/super fan who's interested in every facet of the game and has access to some of the world's best coaching whenever he wants. He's both better positioned and frankly more dedicated to the game and it shows. On this point I don't think Kellerman is the worst but have seen him offer up some horrendous takes/shill for the network fighter as he made comments that would be ripped apart on these boards but as he's ESPN's 'boxing guy' these takes go unchallenged.
While Kellerman was a noticeable downgrade from Merchant (IMO)... he definitely knows quite a bit about boxing. As far as Zab, he obviously had talent, speed, power and a decent jaw. I always thought if he had changed his corner he could've fulfilled more of his potential.
