Every generation has incredibly gifted fighters that lacked a little upstairs.

Meldrick Taylor, Golota, Tommy Morrison, and Judah.

Just never had the mentality to reach their physical peaks. But, when they were on, they could humble the ATG's...

Judah was a fun fighter to watch.

I liked Zab (but I wish his name hadda been Jab Zudah). A little too mouthy, a little too flashy, a little too much ... but you look at it and when that caught up with him he took his ass-whuppings like a man when it came time to do that and never looked for an easy way out that I can remember.

And he kind of reinvented himself to take on pretty much all comers and had a pretty decent second career with some nice wins, Matthysse chief among them.

No, I’d say Judah did all right for himself.

Judah was another one of those fighters that should've been so much more. A defensively sound, super fast southpaw that could HIT HARD!
Judah had all the tools to have gone on too ATG status.
But like a couple of other super talented southpaw's like Camacho and Nunn he was missing a couple of very important ingredients needed to be an ATG....... Focus and dedication.

Zab is certainly among the most overrated and overhyped fighters ever. I keep hearing he did not live up to his potential, or that he could have been so much more...Nah, I kind of think he did...he just was not great no matter how many ways his crazy fans try to spin it

Exactly. And he also destroyed KO magazine! He was the last cover.

probably the biggest KO of his career....although TBF his greatest skill was getting knocked out in style

Zab Judah never quit in the middle of a boxing ring ....He never called anyone’s wife a ***** ...he always showed up in shape and never made excuses as to why he didn’t

This is exactly what he did against Baldomir. Someone of his talent had little business losing to someone like that scumbag Baldomir. I’m guessing his off-night had to do with lack of preparation, which is what the commentators (Al Bernstein) said.

Zab blamed it on Don King for making him promote the fight too much

Yeah, early on, it didn’t look like he would be a front runner. He came back to close strong in the Ward fight after being hurt from that body shot.

He got dropped by Bergman and Millett and came back stronger after those early KDs. I thought he would be better than he was, but still had a very successful career. I loved watching him land that left uppercut

He was utterly crushed by Tszyu with a crunching right in his prime. the fact is he just did not have the brains to compete with Kostya a flaw he never quite fixed, he had one of the lowest ring IQ i have seen in a long while. though his gifts were something he was a real speed demon.

So what is your point? Are you diminishing him as a fighter? It's funny cause anytime I talk about how overrated Kostya Tzyu is, the first thing you people come at me with is 'but..but..but he KOd Zab Judah!!'

I met Zab Judah once at a fight card. He was a good guy.

He ended up lasting a lot longer than Tszyu and actually became the "world" champ at welterweight. Not bad.

    You people?
What I’m saying is he had a low ring IQ and it was his largest flaw you sulk, despite his gifts he was crushed by Kostya with a combination of ring IQ and perfect timing things that would leave him short changed further in his career after Tszyu.
