after watching cotto vs judah many times i tried to emulate judah's left counter uppercut today, i am an orthodox so i rolled my shoulder to the right and just let a monster uppercut go, it went right through the guys guard and he had to hold on to me so he doesn't fall, anyone else try emulate a fighter and made it work?
Kinda weird, i tried a Frazier type deal and it worked... Im usually more of a slick counter puncher so the head movement was there, and i found out, i can punch kind of hard when im trying..As in squared up heh.
Yeah, I use it many times and it's very effective. Just wait for them to throw the jab and slip it to the right while stepping in and then throw it right under the guard. Hits 90% of the time.
You finally landed a right uppercut? I agree though it's a great punch. I throw it a lot because I try to emulate Toney on the inside, with some succes. My competition not being stellar helps a lot, I don't need Toneys reflexes, I haven't got his opponents either (criticism that is often heard about fighting "unorthodox").
When a punch catches Floyd Mayweather, Kostya Tszyu AND Miguel Cotto - ITS NO JOKE! The counter uppercut is great. He rolls and comes back with his 'power hand'. Floyd is a master at this, perhaps the best ever.
i dont really remember floyd throwing many counter uppercuts he usually counters with a straight does he not? if you want to see judah's uppercut watch the fight against cosme rivera, i think zab was the ony one to ever ko rivera.
Watch Floyd v Chavez for maybe the best uppercutting ever. At one moment he rolls and counters about THREE times. It is amazing.
I'm a bit confused about how you did it from an orthodox stance. Did you throw it with your right hand or left? Judah slips to the inside of Cotto's jab and throws it. Seems like it might be a bit awkward from an orthodox stance, slipping inside and then throwing with your power hand.
