Zab seems to be in better shape than he's been in for some time

Zab looked great, but he did seem a bit "hesitant". Did anyone else notice that or was it just me?

eddie mustafa muhammad was training him, that guy is as old school as it gets, he wont take **** from zab judah and wont let him slack.

 

How far do you think that will get him at this point in his career though mate?

 

Funny how everyone always asks for thread about other boxers and then when they appear? They are dead.

 

well there's not much EMM can teach him now but he can get him into better shape and create the right gameplans and hire the proper sparring partners, EMM as a trainer is on par with the likes of roach, steward etc. if he thinks zab is wasting his time he wont be shy to tell him.

 

I thought Zab looked good. He's in great shape, hand speed is still good, sharp jab, good combinations. Now I'd like to him have a go with someone who actually fights back.

 

He wasn't hesitant at all. He took his time and fought smart. He was patient and used his jab, threw combinations, and once he saw an opening, it was over.

 

I agree, even though it ended in 3 rounds, Zab looked to be in terrific condition. That new physic of his might be an indication of where he's at right now. Santa Cruz may be considered a bum, but Cruz held his own against Casamayor & Edner Cherry. It was a small victory for Zab, but it showed a lot of possible indications. I'm interested.

 

I would like to see him in the mix at 140. He would give guys like Khan, Bradley, Ortiz, Maidana and Alexander tough tough nights.

Zab looked decent however i'm not giving him the Keys to the City just yet.

 

Boxing is such a mental game. Zab has the skills in his package, but his loses have all been due to mental elapse. clearly beating baldomar but then just "giving" the fight away. Good starts against Mayweather and Cotto. Waste of time fighting Clottey. His Dad is a good guy, a good fighter, but many times it is an outside person who can, as mentioned, motivate him and not let him be his own enemy. We are in an era when people lose a couple fights and are considered out of contention. If Zab is brought back with the right fights and the right sparring partners, he could be the fighter he was supposed to be. Hopefully, he can stay in the heat of things at 140. I would have loved to see what would have happened if Mayweather Sr. trained him!
