Yes. Friends in the sport, not uncommon in particular. Bute and Glen Johnson sparred each other for an upcoming fight not that long ago, while Bute was champ. Of course, Bute was/is just the IBF champ. Certainly not the coveted IBC position, but still legitimate. Also, uh, Pacquiao and Khan spar with each other. Granted, they're obscure names, but look them up, I swear they're real and current champs.

...on a serious note, Mosley needs someone who is a southpaw(how to position himself) and a volume puncher (how to find an opening).

Mosley's chance to win is to land his big shots. He's going to need to improve his defense and needs to know when to attack. Pac will box on the first couple of rounds so it's a good a idea to save his energy until Pac starts to open up.

Mosley wasnt an ongoing sparring partner for DLH. He came in and sparred with him for a day or two during DLH's training but he wasnt a hired sparring partner.

A sparring partner is picked based on someone who has the ability to mimick another fighter in which you will be fighting.
Zab has the skillset to let his hands go and the foot movement to mimick pac, he is also a south paw

mosley isnt going to go hire juan diaz because he throws hundreds of punches per round. he isnt capable of mimicking pacs style
