This happened a fortnight ago, not a peep about it. A year and six days since his last outing, which in turn was three years and six weeks since he lost to Malignaggi. This content is protected This was uploaded by the same legend that came through earlier today with the first & only video upload of the full Roy Jones Jr. vs. Scott Sigmon bout from last night (all the others were low-quality, or incomplete) ...and those are his only two vids. I'm definitely subscribing.
Is he trying to make "Godspeed" his new nickname? Actually as ridiculous as it is, that actually fits him very well (highlights the biggest bullet-points about him inside the ring and out...he's fast-handed and very religious) too bad he didn't go by that when he was in the spotlight and more famous, better than "Super" tbh.
What is his end game, a match vs. Zahir Raheem or something? I don't see him ever getting a title shot, merely the faded name that the guy who gets the title shot beat.
Zab should hang in there, definitely. I wonder if he is shot enough to fight Danny Garcia, Keith Thurman or Errol Spence? The phone’s gonna ring....
A rematch with Matthysse would be attractive to HBO and they're both pretty equally past it, maybe enough to make it competitive/interesting...
Zab is truly shot, whereas Lucas is just on the (steep) decline. HBO would probably be interested in that, haha. And, hey, maybe it's a step up for 'em!
I dunno...he is shot, and definitely would've iced a guy like Noel Mejía Rincón in his prime and not carried him a full 10...but just skipping around that video I have to admit he doesn't look all THAT desperately far gone. He looks closer to his vintage self (as opposed to a mere shell, going through motions with just flashes of familiar but watered-down brilliance) than Jones did last night. Like, the version of Zab video clearly isn't a top 15 (or perhaps even 30) welterweight but then neither is current Brandon Rios, IMO. If the next Danny Garcia fight were to be a Judah rematch I would actually consider it slightly less of a shameful cherry pick than Rios is, actually.
Weird seeing Zab so slow. Anyways.... I hope hes able to cover whatever financial woes he has with these fights. One would have to think hes only fighting because of financial struggles. Would be nice to see him retire and become a trainer or something..... move on to the next chapter of his life succesfully.
You know I wouldnt mind a 'Legends' card every quarter... where guys like Zab can compete against other past it fighters. Zab vs Kostya 2 Hatton vs Mosley Quartey vs Clottey (not implying that Clottey is a legend but you know what I mean) ect, ect. Might be weird but I would honestly pay for that. Would give these veterans an outlet, some income, ect. Idk... maybe its a stupid idea lol. But Id watch anyways.
Honestly it's a good idea. I've always felt that as these faded fighters carry on, the only fights of remote relevance and deserving to happen are matches against other equally old, faded, and formerly great fighters. Really, it makes sense. Better than Lebedev killing Roy or Zab fighting a, all due respect as he'd whoop my ass, scrub.
