Hello and thank you for joining this thread :thumbsup. I'll try to keep it short and simple. The purpose of this thread is to discuss Zab'z future options, you can say whatever you think is the best option for Zab, even if it is to retire, but I ask that we please show respect for the super talented fighter we are adressing to :good. I personally think he sould try to move down to the 140lbs divison. I know, I know, many people think that's absurd and may not even change anything, besides he only came at 143 because he had already had a three week training camp which he later reopened after two weeks of his injured arm. But the thing I can't get over is that not only did he come in at 143 on the weigh in, but he came at 147lbs the night of the fight and looked fine. Now my point is that if Zab was able to come in at 143 when he clearly didn't need to lose weight he could effectively go down to the Jr.welterweight divison with some much needed discipline (and a diet). My reasons being that he would just be more effective in that weight class, and could possibly rebuild his reputation there. I think he could really make a strong comeback and clean out the divison, later on after rebuilding his confidience and career he could take on the WW Champion, but I think he brings a lot of things that most if not all jr.ww can't really handle. ps: Congrats to Clottey on a good victory. And people please stop saying he blows up on fight night, he only weighed 156lbs on saturday, and the night he fought Corrales (RIP) it was at a catch weight of 150lbs, and the night of the fight where he weighed in at 170lbs he explained that he had jeans and most of his clothes on. He is just a very muscular WW.
Zab's best bet is to tempt one of the champions to face him... Judah's name still hold's alot of weight, And he could prob bait anyone of the Champions from (140-154) to tangle with him.
I don't understand why he doesn't want to fight at 140. It will be perfect for him (power and speed will be amazing compared to the others in the division). He better think what's best for him and I really don't believe it will be a hard decision to make. BTW that cut against Clottey looked nasty as hell.
I don't even know why he bothers with 147, he could have done better at 140 and be the one fighting Hatton in November instead of Paulie.
I thought Zab's last effort at this level, however he might get one more chance because he didn't lose too much stock from the L on Saturday. 140 is the place for him as I don't see him being able to beat any of the champs at 147 and yes I'm including Berto too.
I think he should go to 140 if he can, if he must stay at 147 he should fight Berto and take that title from him.
