You can tell he's a ring veteran when Tomashchuk throws a jab with his right hand while pushing the fingertip curvature of his left glove against his nose to shut off the nostril on that side and blow a bloody snot rocket from the other in mid-exchange.

 

Tomashchuk actually did really well there, I think he did enough diving and weaving to nullify Blinov's work and sneak in a modicum of light counters of his own to steal it.

Tomashchuk is emboldened from his success in the previous round. He starts to stand in the pocket with Blinov and dig with right hooks on the near hip. Blinov lands a BLISTERING series of chops on the face and Tomashchuk is very hurt. Blinov wails on him for over a minute but can't secure the KO, too much savvy & cagey veteran awareness from Tomashchuk, grabbing and holding at just the right times, ducking low (nearly copping himself a mandatory 10-count when his knees almost brush the canvas), and just makes it.

Alright, here comes the original reason this card first appeared on my radar!! The real main event, IMO.

 

Zamig Atakishiyev vs. Saúl Becerra Gil, 6 rounds @ heavyweight

 

Couple of chunky monkeys, these.

 

Round 1

Atakishiyev is crowding Becerra Gil early, landing a vicious rabbit punch. Body shot from Atakishiyev, short uppercut on the flabby, jiggling gut, drops Becerra Gil to a knee. Atakishiyev is jabbing into the guard and slamming rights across the back of Becerra Gil's head. Another diaphragm shot and Becerra Gil takes another knee. Atakishiyev is headhunting with straight combos and Becerra Gil is able to block while backpedaling clumsily into a corner. Another clean body shot results in a third knockdown for Atakishiyev.

I'm not sure poor Farah got in a single blow.
