Yeah, didn't seem like it from the ref's body language. I think Uktamov slipped or something.

UD for Denis Khamatov, now 2-0, yet to score a professional KO.

Yeah I noticed that too. There are 4 or 5 Uzbek boxers with the surname Ergashev so I suspect there's a fairly decent chance some of them might be related to each other.

Jumaev is subbing in for Vladyslav Baranov of the Ukraine, btw, on like 48 hours notice.

Daukenov vs. Baranov would have been very competitive, IMO.

    Round 1

Daukenov is jabbing the body of Jumaev, reaching in from outside. Daukenov is adopting the Philly shell, taking command of the middle of the ring, countering in the rare instances when Jumaev bothers taking lead. Daukenov is jabbing at the chest and spearing right crosses into the belly, throat, and beard of Jumaev. Wide hooks by Jumaev trotting in, more just window-dressing than anything.

    10-9 Daukenov

    Round 2

Daukenov is pecking away on the forearms and belt line of Jumaev with jabs and long doubled-up looping rights. Incidental head clashes when they press together. Warning to both from the ref, and they give a sporting glove touch. Daukenov is slicing his way through Jumaev's wide paddling combos with a sharp left jab, then stepping out and circling with pot shots.

    10-9 Daukenov

    20-18 Daukenov

Son of a *****, was up at the start watching the first two bouts, then somehow passed out and just woke up in time for the last three bouts while missing Farah

Daukenov is by quite some distance the best p4p fighter on the bill, yet this is turning out to be the most boring fight of the day by quite some distance.

I think Jumaev quit on his stool. They're removing his gloves.

    RTD2!!

    Daukenov improves to 5-0 (2).

Nervously, the young Kazakh, draped in his country's flag, grabs the mic and gives a brief speech, probably thanking his team.

Very interesting. Both combatants in the main event come in with just one lone defeat - both of them via split decision, and both at the hands of guys that fought (and won) on today's undercard.

Balandin dropped a SD in a 6-rounder to Ravshan Ergashev in February, while his Cuban opponent dropped one to Denis Khamatov in his debut in a 4-rounder.

    Small world!

    10-9 Santana, close but clear

Too slick, too Cuban. Effective switch-hitter, too, pulled a Dempsey shift at one point. Kind of a Maravilla clone in his stance and mechanisms.
