I think Zappa needs to go threw at least 1 of them before going to the US too.
The hardest matchup out of those IMO is Ganoy & Zappa's team knows this.:yep
Zappa would learn more about himself from a fight with Ganoy then he has from his previous 20 odd pro bouts.

Ganoy would take Zappa into deep water I think Kegs, Zappa is still hittable and guys like Ranee dont need many chances

No doubt Ranee would be his biggest test by a mile & take him into some deep water.
However should he win this fight, his prep before heading over to the US would be greatly enhanced.

I know its a big risk for not the hugest reward, but i think all our top prospects need at least 1 difficult encounter to see what they are made of when the going gets really tough.
This is the sort of reason why so many of our guys fail when stepping up overseas...either they were just not good enough or they were good enough but not properly prepared for the task at hand.

Your avatar Pittman is classic example of someone who IMO should have had at least a couple more tough contests before being thrown in with Sturm.

    Agree 100%.

Zappa is #14 IBF now but I know his team aren't interested in getting him an elimination fight yet. They plan on having a few fights in the US first.

Bearing in mind Zap's US debut is on the Dawson v Johnson 2 undercard, I wonder if main Event will show it? The card is starting to look pretty good! Dawson v Johnson 1 was a ball tearer and Angulo is on it as well and he is neverbull! Maybe worth shelling out for!

I agree 100% that before a guy is sent over for a big fight he needs a test, Pittman would have benefited hugely from a tough as nails encounter with an overseas opponent, not a one sided turkey shoot against nonoy gonzales.

Personally I would love to see Zappa fight Ganoy because it could be Aus fight of the year, but im just not sure how Zap would handle Ganoy who hits like a mule.

They have sparred a few times. If you said that was one reason Zappa has shown no interest in a fight with Ganoy, I wouldn't argue with you. ;)

They have been asked a few times and the answer is always "no thanks".

i think he should try test himself would love it to be zappa vs ganoy but if he looses his confidence would probably be shattered cause ganoy will just play ktfo anyone who tries to trade with him... if you can stop robbie peden you know you can really wack...
in anyways im a massive zappa fan, his style will make people want to watch his fights!

Maybe the exposure on a big show in the States will take Zappa's confidence to another level and his camp potentially seeing Ganoy down the track next year?

I can agree with not taking on Ganoy prior to his US debut as potentially, the States presents far bigger options for Zappa and to be fair to both fighters, Ganoy vs. Zappa is going to be a big payday just yet for either fighter.

I don't mind if it builds here in Australia and if it happens at some point in the future, well we can all sit back to a great fight.

Zappa will beat Ganoy... Ranee is slow and progressively more so now that he is with Grange boxing club...Haven't been impressed with the work that gym put's in.....unless Zappa get's caught with a lucky shot. He should win in dominant fashion. Zappa wouldn't have to look for Ganoy. Zappa TKO..

I tend to agree with this post. A great fight and I think recently, Zappa's criticism by various posters has just been simply to not having the fighters that want to fight Zappa.

He has been kept busy and active which is what we want as fans and from the US also who want him active and with confidence up, combined with record.

Everyone trots on about Ganoy's power, I seem to recall one Tommy Browne who's a tough nut himself being dropped by a stinging Zappa rip to the body. If Ganoy get's hit by Zappa with that, he'll know it.

There's not too many Aussie boxers out there stinging to the body like Lenny!

Zappa vs. Ganoy I'm sure will present itself properly for both parties in the future. At the moment, it's a great fight for the fans with albeit, an average payday at best for either.

    Go Zappa!

Zappa has hurt alot of guys to the body. He does that well. Although, he didn't hurt Olartes at at his return to lightweight.

I'd be more concerned about Zappa's chin than Ranee's body. Remeber, Zappa has been hurt by little guys like Rubin Santillanosa and was dropped twice by light punching Junmar Dulog, who can make 57 if he has to. He suffered a knock down to Ryan Langham as well.

Find me a puncher amongst Lennys last five or so opponents.
