My problem is just how outsized he is. One thing for a 10-0 already world-rated (#2 WBC, no less) young prospect to be fed a 33-8-2 product of the none too well schooled Colombian system - but the fact that Zaur is a comfortable LWW (and IMO probably has the frame to end up at 147 or even 154) and HMS is basically a super featherweight puts a damper on any positive evaluation of this, if you're reaching for one for Zaur.

SURPRISE! Carman is WBA #15. Romanov as of now is absent from all the major org top 15 in the world rankings.

 

Romanov did not look good, the last time i saw him. I would not be surprised, if Carman wins this.

Yeah, it's definitely a step back in terms of quality for Zaur (who already holds a victory over former 140lb world challenger Lundy), but Martinez showed some fire and put up sterner resistance than most designated opponents would in that situation. It's not a particularly significant milestone on Zaur's path toward contention, but it was fairly entertaining in its own manner.

Round 1: Romanov wins by KO

Pretty much as expected. Romanov is a beast.

 

Round 1

Romanov is jabbing his way in on the big lug, in a peekaboo stance, cutting inside the ponderous & telegraphed fat right hands Carman is dropping in from his lofty heights. Romanov hurts Carman with an incisive 1-2, and walks him into a corner, landing another, dealing further damage. Carman is reacting very badly to every glove Romanov lays on him, and Romanov is yet to fire his money punch left hook - until NOW! It clips the point of the chin as Carman is floundering in the corner, and he flops on the deck like a Magikarp.

KO1!!

 

Carman looked like he was in this early on, but he truly is very unskilled. Poor Simon Kean, this just makes him look even worse
